I've been interested in Marks with 4" barrels for a while and decided to see what's out there. Here's what I've found so far.

First row: KMK4BL, MK4BL, MK4B
Second row: KP4B, P4B
Third row: P4MKIII, P4GCMKIII

Anything I'm missing? I have seen versions of what looks like the MK4B with checkered wood thumb rest grips and with standard black plastic grips. I don't know if those are separate models, variations of the model, dealer exclusives or someone has just swapped grips.

Thanks for the response.

This one comes up as model 00139 on the Ruger lookup. Is this a separate model number from the factory version and does it have a catalog number other than MK4B like the other two? Do you know what the model number and catalog numbers are for the factory version?

The other two are models 00198 and 00138. That and the catalog numbers I posted are off the box labels. Unfortunately I don't have the original box for 00139.

Yeah these 4 inch MKII models are my favorites too. Only have 3 of them so far...
I put a Volquartsen 3.5 inch threaded barrel on a standard MKIV target Model 40101.
Makes for a great suppressor host. The 3 MKII pistols pictured are
22/45 P4B Model 0189.
Davidson MK4B Model 0139
Lipsey MK4BL Model 0138

They are getting harder to find. And seem to be going up in price quicker than standard MKs. I'll be looking at the upcoming Wannemachers show but haven't had much luck before. You never know what you'll run across though.

Post if you have any luck at the show. Just adding a VQ sear and trigger can make nice little shooters out of them. I don't let the kids shoot this one. The trigger doesn't have a lot of travel. Good thing you need to violate 2 or more of the rules for safe gun handling for anyone to get hurt.

Yeah I almost learned the hard way that my match triggers aren't for amateurs. My Dan Wesson has an Air Trigger SA pull.

Does this count? It has a stupendous great trigger, unmodified.

You bring up a sore spot with me. Because Ruger named their 4 3/4 inch barrel models RST-4, MK4, etc, or KP4 in your case, many folks think they have a 4 inch barrel. This is probably more confusing because the RST-6, MK6, etc actually have 6 inch barrels. I guess not everyone has a measuring devise like you.

I wish it was 1/4" longer, and it would be a KP5 !
