Picked this up a couple weeks ago.
Shot it twice so far.
Very accurate and reliable, only hickuped twice and that was with Win Bulk HP.
I just added a fiber sight but it's raining steady so I have not been able to try it out.
Also hoping to swap out the frame for a standard MK III frame.
Also need to lighten the trigger pull.

Got to shoot in the rain for a few minutes this morning.
Rain was steady, wind was a steady
15 mph
I did great, love the new front fiber sight. Does need a trigger job.
10 yds. only, to muddy to walk out farther

Nice!

But why swap out the frame? Then it won't be a 22/45. If you wanted a standard frame,, why didn't you get one of those to begin with? JUST CURIOUS.
A few reasons.
I live in Commiefornia, no Rugers are on the approved list so you have to buy used face to face and that commands a premium price. Also not many for sale, so hard to find. This one came available for a great price.
I like the weight of the steel frame better.

Ahh,, NOW I understand! I didn't know that the MK's weren't on the "approved" list there. I'm clear across the country.

Good luck in your swapping of parts!

First of all, that is a Ruger Mark II 22/45, not a Mark III. Mark II and Mark III uppers are not always compatible with the standard metal Mark II/ Mark III grip frames. There are some dimensional differences between the two( usually involving the hook at the front of the grip frame that engages the recess under the front of the receiver). There is a reason that Ruger marked the receivers of 22/45 models separately from their standard models. Unlike the current Mark IV Series, they were not designed to be interchangeable.

Yes, I know.
But I don't mind a little hand fitting.

I like the traditional metal frames too. I foolishly sold my heavy barrel Ruger years ago, and have had a .22/45 for a long time now. Only thing I did to my .22/45 was add a Millett blaze orange type ramp front sight. I sometimes use a cheap red dot on it. It doesn't have the trigger my Model 41 S&W had, but then again, it is totally reliable with any ammo I've used. My Model 41 was not. With the red dot, Stinger ammo, and shooting from the bench, it's almost like a little LASER out to about a hundred yards.
