Background; I just finished building a 350 Legend in an AR-15 platform. While looking for magazines, what kept showing up is the Ruger American® Ranch Rifle magazine. I looked those rifles up and their mag does, in fact, look like and AR mag. Is this truly the case? Did Ruger use and AR style mag for their bolt rifle? If so, it will sure make my life easier.
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this.

Yes indeed, Ruger apparently uses AR15 magazines for their .350 Legend Ruger American Ranch rifle.

A couple of years ago, Ruger shipped my new .350 RAR rifle with a .350 AR15 magazine (made by either CMMG or C-Products Defense - I have both and don't remember which one was OEM). Currently, the Shop Ruger web site seems to be listing C-Products AR15 'Duramags' for use in the .350 bolt action. So I'm guessing any .350 RAR rifle mag you order will just be a .350 AR15 mag of some kind, designed for use in ARs, but also usable in the Ruger bolt guns.

As always IMHO, FWIW, YMMV, etc., etc.

In the American Ranch line-up, the 5.56, 6.5 Grendel, .300 Blk and .350 Legend each use AR-type magazines

AND IF you swap magwells, you can also use AR-type mags in the 7.62x39 version (and maybe the .450 Bushmaster version also, although I've never tried that, and I hear the big .450 rounds don't always feed reliably from AR mags).

As always IMHO, FWIW, YMMV, etc., etc.

Hello TLC,

Is there an advantage to using the AR-type mags in the 7.62x39? Other that availability? Real question is do they work better. I don't recall any operational issues with the mini-30 in the bolt gun(RAR) but haven't used it recently. Thanks.

I think the folks who swap to AR mags often go that route because they already own the mags (for a 7.62x39 AR), or because AR mags can be cheaper/easier to find than Mini-30 mags.

The flip side of the coin might be swapping out the AR magwell in a 5.56 RAR rifle, and replacing it with the magwell that takes Mini-30 mags - which I think would let you use Ruger factory Mini-14 mags in the 5.56, if you wanted to. I checked a while back, and a factory Mini-14 mag locked right into a 7.62x39 RAR rifle, but the only aftermarket Mini-14 mag I had available would NOT lock in (may vary with manufacturer). No idea if it would feed correctly, but because the swap works the other direction, I'm guessing the odds are pretty good!

As always IMHO, FWIW, YMMV, etc., etc.
