Got a call early this morning saying I could come pick up my MK4 22/45 I bought 11 days ago. It is a different animal than my older models. After taking it apart I found a lot grit and some metal shaving, so it will get a good cleaning before being shot. I don't like the ambi safety or the magazine disconnect. I will remove the right safety lever and parts are ordered to disable the magazine disconnect. I am going to order a longer magazine button as the factory one is hard to reach for me. The gun feels good in my hand, but it's gonna take awhile to get use to it. I also plan to replace the front sight with something that won't get hung up in a shoulder holster. My dream Ruger 22 auto would be a MK2 with 4-3/4 or 6 inch barrel and a metal grip frame and a magazine drop feature. Taking apart and putting the old style guns back together doesn't bother me.

I live my Mark IV 22/45. I changed the front sight and bought a fiber optic from Ruger. I added a compensator from Allchin, Grips from StonerCNC.com, a Halo Charging Handle from Tandemkross that helps prevent my fingers from getting pinched when operating the bolt and I added the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit to get rid of the disconnector. After all that I bought the extended magazine release from VQ as well. It does more than just help your reach for the release but raises the magazine a hair which helps eliminate some of the failure to extracts.

Now buy 500 rounds of CCI Mini Mags to break your gun in. After that you can probably shoot anything. I mostly feed mine CCI Blazers. I've found them to be the most accurate ammo, even better than some of the expensive stuff.

And don't overlook Federal AutoMatch in the 325 bulk packs. My older Ruger 22 pistols seem to like it.
I have a few autoloaders that won't run std. velocity. My club won't allow "high velocity" on the indoor range. The Automatch 325's run perfectly in EVERYTHING, and the accuracy is very good.

I used to prefer CCI Minimags, but these Feds simply beat them out.

I have not got a chance to shoot it yet. All my older Standards and Mk pistols have always liked CCI Mini Mags and the Federal 525 round bulk stuff. My 6-7/8 barreled Mk models really like CCI Stingers.

Before I make any more mods, I need to get out and shoot it. I have small hands so I bought a Volquartsen extended bolt release and a Tandemkross extended magazine release and I am still waiting for those parts. I have the Tandemkross Blast Shield to disable the magazine safety and I need to get rid of the right side safety lever. Once I have shot it and have all the parts I will deside what to do about the trigger. I also ordered a HiViz front sight and every replacement part I could find and a few extra MK2 parts. I need to talk to my local gunshop about ordering me a MK2 upper so I can finish building another MK2.
