Hi...
I bought one of these .30 Carbine BlackHawks a couple of years ago.
My son and I shoot it regularly.
I do not find it particularly loud when using electronic muffs and commercial ammunition, certainly no louder than a full power 125gr JHP in .357 Magnum.

A .357magnum firing 40% more of the same powder not LOUD?!

Ever fired a .357 4" with 21.0gr of H110? At NIGHT?

Do so, then tell me a little.30Carbine is loud....
.30Carbine loud? Maybe compared to a .22lr or .38spl.
Not when compared to something in its league.
Not sure how many .357 Mag and
.30 Carbine loads you have shot through equivalent length barrel Blackhawks, but the .30 Carbine has significantly more noise and muzzle flash if shot with traditional factory or surplus military rounds. The reason is that those cartridges used rifle powder which in a short pistol barrel burn largely outside the barrel. The recoil is mild but the noise and flash far exceed a .357! Essentially closed down one indoor range the first time I shot my vintage .30 Carbine Blackhawk there. The range officer called cease fire while he came out to check my gun and ammo!!

I have found the milspec surplus ammo to be quite loud out of the Blackhawk. I just downloaded a decibel measuring app for my phone. Not sure how accurate it will be, but it should let me know which one is lounder. When it warms up in the near future, unfortunately -21°F right now, I'll take a couple Blackhawks and see what happens. Even though the .357 is an inch shorter, I have a sneaky feeling it will be close. We'll see what happens.

Yet there never seems to be an abundance of them for sale ….. new or used ….. at least not here in the Midwest.

I hate to burst your bubble but that "rifle" powder you think is in the milspec .30Carbine is none other than the H110/Win296 I mentioned.

I bought my first pound of H110 50yrs ago. Shot my first .30Carb Blackhawk 48yrs ago... Same day I shot a .41mag BlackHawk.
I carried a .357mag revolver for 18 of my 25yr career in law enforcement.

I'm quite familiar with both the .357mag, .30Carbine, and what they're loaded with.
And how loud they are...

I dont know if they are any louder decibal wise, but a 30 Carbine pistol and a 357 Sig pistol will sure ring ur ears. I have always thought they hit a higher 'pitch' for lack of better terminology

My first Ruger was a Blackhawk .30 carbine I bought new in 1969.
I was hooked by Ruger's ads for 1550 fps out of a 7 1/2 barrel ! But, I failed to realize what that translated to for blast & noise.
1/2 box without ear protection left my ears ringing for a week and a new appreciation for the need for ear protection.
I was young.
Surplus ammo was available and cheap which was important because I made very little money in those days.
Swapped it off after 5 or so years for a Marlin 39 Mountie carbine. Wish I still had both.
