Have any of you heard the reason? I'm guessing it is a cost reduction move.
What is used to color the cylinders black if not black Ceracote?
I like the contrast of the black cylinder with the frame's color.
being that it is a "coating" and Ruger learned long ago when they had the "tri color" Lightweights , that cylinder was a "Martin coat" and did what most parts that are coated will do with use, chip, crack, peel, and on and on look at how many guns the nickel and chrome platings did unusual things.........all too many of us are very hard on the finishes of any "work use" items, and they have NO control over just what we do, what we use, and how it holds up in the long run.................I wish I had a nickel for every cylinder I have redone in the past 49 years...
