Selling my .45 Convertible locally.
Wondering if I am asking a fair price of $900
5.5" blued, white grips.
It is almost new, original box and papers. Bought about 8 years ago but not fired until recent.
Less then 100 rounds fired of light cast loads only.
Colt cylinder chambers were opened up to .4525 by Doug Guy.
Pretty much as new.

Wondering if I am asking a fair price of $900...

If you think about it, "fair" is going to be pretty close to "market price", where you're selling it. If the seller asks too much (above market price), it won't likely sell. And if the seller sets the price too low, the item will likely sell quickly (which is probably good), but the new owner might turn around and immediately resell it at a higher price (not what the original owner intended).

All of which you probably figured out long before I did - but the bottom line is, a "fair" price depends entirely on your local market. I did read recently that big bore revolvers are generally in high demand and short supply, for whatever that's worth in the area where you live.

Good luck with your sale - I used to have a .45 convertible, and really miss it (but that unexpected bill from the IRS was a higher priority)!
:)

Wow  That is a ridiculous MSRP!!!! I too paid around $500 for both of mine when they came out and that wasn't that long ago. Going to be priced out of the market if you ask me.... Maybe that is the intent <tin foil hat> .

I have a 4 5/8" 45 Flattop Convertible. It and the 44 Special Flattop Bisley guns from Lipsey's are the finest built Ruger guns I have ever seen.

I recently added a 5 1/2" 44 Special Flattop Bisley to its 4 5/8" brother. It turned out to be my most aaccurate big bore revolver..

Thanks for the input.
Paid $1,000 plus fees and then paid $100 to have the chambers opened up to .4525
Looks like I will have to settle a little less, but if I can't get $800 for it, I will just keep it in the safe.
Thanks again.

T.A is about spot on and I agree that the price you may be asking is MORE than fair and around current market price am seeing them higher around here....you can ALWAYS come down and do not be in any hurry......;)

The Lipseys New Model Flattops prices have only one direction to go, up. Some of these have been shot, all will be someday, by me. I don't collect, I accumulate. Here are all of the Lipseys, blue and stainless 44 specials, blue and stainless 357/9mm and blue and stainless 45Colt/ACP, 4&5/8 and 5&1/2. I have converted some to super Blackhawk hammers and some have elk horn grips. All are loved.

I think it's the high side but still fair. Meaning its a good asking price. Leaving room to come down a little.

I wouldn't sell mine for $900.
