Braces IS the answer.

My OWB carry is slightly different than most. I use braces (suspenders for those that don't know the lingo) to hold my pants up. Then, I carry my handgun, holstered but on a separate belt, just above my trousers. The suspended trousers prevent the holster belt from sliding down.

Works well for me. YMMV. DDTAHWPG. IANARD, BIPOOTV.

Belt above your pants??? Try a belly band. That doesn't sound comfortable at all.

My favorite single action holster is one that was custom made by Levergun Leatherworks. I've shown a photo of it many times.

But the one I carry every day is also a custom made holster. I had a germ of an idea and a fellow named Tom Anderson made it into reality. It not only is extemely functional but it looks fantastic.

SP101 3 inch .38spl. It's the older one and shoots great. I have a newer SP .357 3 inch and I like the older one better. Better QC. I really would like to find an older GP100 3 inch or a fixed sight GP 4-inch half lug.

That's why I said, YMMV. Works well for me in spite of folks that say it can't work.

If it's good enough for Marshall Dillon...

So wearing a pistol belt over your pants not above them. Still doesn't sound very discreet. This is the Concealed Carry Central page after all. I kinda picture this with a pistol belt around your belly.

As I've said before, my favorite woods walking outfit is a 45 Colt OM Blackhawk in an El Paso Tom Threeperson holster with a Randall Yukon Skinner with matching stag handles.

Not to me. It works for some folks, but was just the opposite for me. Whacked my knuckle with heavy loads, and was slower getting on target in rapid shooting. Ol' Sam's plow handle grip works best for me so long as the velocity stays around 1000 f.p.s.

Yeah the gun just rolls up in the hand. Much less control. Plowhandles have that edge front and back that engage the pinky and palm so you have more leverage over the gun.

Okay, it's not for you. You've made your point, again, and again. I heard you the first time.
I just kept trying to picture the outfit. Not to mention how any of these hoglegs fit into Concealed Carry unless you walk around in a Duster jacket. A Picture might have helped.

This is how concealed looks to me. Some of us don't live in Dodge City.

I too prefer the standard Blackhawk grip frame to the Bisley, have tried 2 Ruger bisleys one in 45 colt the other in .41, both have gone down the road but still have blackhawks in .357, .41, .44 spl, .44 mag and . .45 colt. I have 4 vaquero's two original frame 1- .44mag and1-.45 colt and 2 new vaquero's in .45 colt.

Well, here is a photo made of me one Sunday morning at church. A Ruger Flat Top .44 Special is on my right hip:

Here under a denim jacket:

And here, posed with a good friend of mine who belongs on this forum, under a light vest:

Works for me.

Wow! the young man in the top photo wearing the green choir robe was at church yesterday, Dec. 18th. He is teaching school in Idaho Falls, Idaho and was home for the holidays. Along with his girl friend/likely fiancé.

I am sure I will ruffle some feathers , but that's life on the trail.

Carrying a Blackhawk in an open top holster with no retention , might be just fine for walking down the sidewalk , going to a restaurant or hanging out in church.
The problem is , it wouldn't work for anyone that is half way active.

I believe there are much better guns out there for the concealed carry purpose , and much better options for holsters.

I would like to find some old school leather for my short .38. Maybe a shoulder holster. Where is a good place to start looking?

I love my old Blackhawk and would never sell it. I shoot it at the range only. Can't seem to thumb back the hammer like I used to. I use the weak hand thumb and I'm ok.

They're in their 80's and rode with Wyatt Earp back in the day. Where they live it's still normal to dress up like a cowboy. If they are accurate and able with their cowboy guns more power to them. I'm adapting in my 60's with red dot sights etc. I'm always trying to find ways to make my sights more visible and I have always had beyond 20/20 I could read signs a half mile down the road. I'm finally up to needing 2.0 for anything inside 4' and feel like I'm going blind. I practice at 25yds as well to make sure I'm not a danger to everyone around me. Who knows they might be able to fast draw and fan off precision shots from the hip at 50yds. I doubt I could use those sights quickly and effectively. Years of experience does make up for things sometimes.
