Just got a Max-9 and was wondering if anyone had one that they mounted a red dot optic on it and how did they like it? What red dot did you buy and how did it work out. I'm leaning towqards a Holosun 507K or 407K, A SIG Romeo Zero or a Shield RMSc (or something else) - just started my investigation. Thanks for any inputs.

I have the Max 9, & I bought the Crimson Trace 1550, for It, I didn't like it because I had trouble finding the red dot, when sighting. I also carry it in a pocket, & the red dot makes it too large for that.

I've had mine for a while, bought it shortly after they came out. I ordered the Holosun K an it arrived before I picked up the Max-9. It's been a great combo. Red dot co-witnesses with the irons perfectly. I generally carry it in a Simply Rugged OWB holster, it is even cut to fit the optic.

I also bought the CT, but returned it. I didn't like it didn't automatically turn off, had to remove it to replace battery, and just didn't like the dot.

Considering getting the Holosun 507k but trying to get better with iron sights first.

I have a Sig P320 carry that came with one of their Romeo sights .... reminder me last time I tried to shoot it... it would not come on... need to change the battery. In completion shooting or qualification I don't think you can beat a red dot once you learn to access it. The nice thing about mine is the iron sights are still usable... the red dot showed me that my last accuracy problem was finger placement. You could see the dot moving slightly to the left as you squeezed the trigger if the finger was not centered correctly. Could not see this with the iron sights.... But, I would not trust a red dot optic with my life... practice, competition, showing off yes... for carry or emergency defense... no.

Well, took my new Max 9 to the East Coast Gathering and got the red dot sighted in and put about 50 rounds through it. Not a hiccup at all, shot it slow and shot it fast, it ran without any problems. Now, that said, is it going to replace my SR9c, I'm not sure. It will be in the rotation and it depends on what I'm wearing and where I'll be going. BUT - I LIKE IT :)

I have the 407K on my Max 9, and it's a great combination. Far more accurate than it has any right to be, and even after a holster failure which resulted in the gun and optic falling onto concrete 😳 it didn't shift POI.

I have the SIG Romeo Zero on mine at this time and it works well but I am leaning towards putting a 507K with the green dot/circle on it. I've held a few/sighted pistols with the 507 Green and really like it better than the standard red dot.

>>507K with the green dot/circle on it<<

Not on my Max 9, but I tried the 407K on my Canik Mete but didn't care for the 6 moa dot. So, I sold it off and replaced it with the 507K w/ green dot/reticle and like it way better.

I have the Crimson Trace RAD on mine. All I can say is WOW. I've run unlimited class with an optic but I never imagined I could hit like this with a cargo pocket pistol!!! Top group 3 seconds offhand. Lower group 6 seconds leaning against a post at 25yds!!! I would be comfortable taking a 75yd shot with any kind of support.

I bought the CT because it DOES turn off automatically. Just put the cover on. I simply hate the battery models with a switch because I always forget to flip it back.

With my eyesight, a red dot allows me to hit the target. Plus, it enables me to sight it in perfectly. Open sites were good years ago, but not for me any more.
