Sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut. Not often you come across one of the pewter shot glasses, but to find one in pristine condition with the original blue pouch..only the first I've seen in person. This makes 3 of these here now.
Anyone kow if the box (background) was what they came in too or just the pouch?

Chad might be able to answer your question on the box.
I have seen two sell a couple of years ago, one was well used :) went for around $300.00, the second one was in real good condition with the blue felt bag brought $450.00 and change.

flatgate had one of those and used a pic of it as his avatar. He was convinced that the eagle was stamped using a Bearcat die, I think he said he thought it was the old model grip medallion stamp.
Remeber that and him fondly. I will still refer to these as the pewter one with the bearcat stamp because of him. His legacy continues here.

This 1955 (1 of 4) lighter bears the same Bearcat stamp.:)

Here is an old post with info on the lighter & Jack Packer. Not meaning to step on BlkHawk73's post.

Well then, since the Bearcat didn't come out until 1958 and didn't have grip medallions until maybe 1963, I guess the thought should be that the Bearcat medallions use that lighter's stamp! As I recall, the shot glass was mid-1960s.
Bob,
That has been my thought also that the stamp was prior to the Bearcat.
Remember it was 1955 when Bill had two hundred of the Black & Gold "RUGER PISTOLS" ashtray's made for Xmas gifts. The verbiage is the same on the lighter with the date 1955 added, so the stamp already existed or was made that year. The slim line Zippos 1st year of production was also 1955.

I'm not sure the "RUGER PISTOLS" ashtray was produced as an employee Christmas gift. Although there are some employees who had these, including one employee that had a stash of at least four that were brand new in the boxes mid-1980's, I think those ashtrays were used as a promotional item for gun shops since they have been found in closed up gun shops all across the country, in the strangest of all places including an antique store that showed up on a reality show based in Iowa, something "pickers".

I have never seen a box before with a 1967 pewter shotglass. The blue pouch though is correct with that.
Is there a name on the blue striped box?
Honestly, I can't see a manufacturer sending something like this shotglass out without a box of some sort. Can't imagine Ruger receiving a few cases of these thrown piecemeal (enclosed in blue pouches) in larger cardboard cases for shipment.

I heard the blue drawstring bags were for rings shipped with early #1 rifles.

Yes, American Pickers showed that Pistols ashtray on the wall in the collection of a retired/deceased Herkimer County, NY sheriff deputy. I almost tried contacting them but didn't. Jussbad saw the same show and followed through and got the ashtray.

My Robbed From Bill Ruger lighter has the box. It is the second part of my avatar that you can't see because this new forum software won't display animated GIFs.

Not sure I have this correct shot glass but it is a cobalt blue shot glass with pewter...I have one with box and one without box. Not sure how to post pics.

Chad,

I can send a pic if you would like to see it.
