Yeah it is funny as hell since the Internet. Be lucky to get sh** for some of these items on the street but put em on E-Bay and folks will often try to out bid one another. Not saying everything sells but sometimes the asking price is ridiculous. Only other thing I got from my younger days is a panasonic RF 2200 short wave radio. Bought it around 1977. Guess some like em as have seen them priced at close to $300 in great shape.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^

There's a handful of sellers on one of the auction sites that slap a ridiculous price and the words (usually it's the first two of the listing) "ULTRA RARE" on everything they list. Makes me chuckle when those listings come up in a search with 20 other identical items selling selling for 4 to 5 times less. If I check the completed auctions they've relisted that item a bunch of times.

Put "commemorative" in the search bar at GunBroker, and see some of the awful stuff being offered as special and more valuable than it's ordinary counterpart.

In general, I dislike spray-on finishes on firearms (military firearms like FALs are an exception). Now, if Ruger would come out with a camo Wrangler, I would buy one - camo (like aloha shirt fabric :>) doesn't show crap! Of course, plaid or polka-dot would be uglier, and maybe more collectible.

(For some reason, "ugly" plus "collectible" reminds me of a "John McCain 2008" necktie I picked up somewhere for a buck... :>)
Camo guns will certainly be rare, as they will be easily lost.

Ruger Marks have surprised me. MKIs seem to have leveled out unless you have something special or super condition. MKIIs and MKIIIs keep climbing up in price. MKIIs I gave less than $500 for are going for a $1,000. Some MKIII Hunters are going for big bucks I've noticed since I'm sorta collecting those right now. MKIVs are climbing as well but I think Inflation is part of that. As with all others, what Ruger made the least of is likely to bring more bucks.

Well never knew milsurps would be commanding so much money 40 years back. Won't consider it pretty or ugly but prices are up there for all matching examples like the 98k my father brought back. Having it is priceless enough for me.
Exactly. I remember buying a bunch of Argentine 1911's for dirt cheap. Now they command almost as much a Colt.

Wish I had gotten this one. It's ugly, futuristic and didn't work.

Is that a Dardic pistol? Believe I recall seeing a write up in an old Gun Digest. Sounded pretty interesting.

Aha! Should have known Selena. Now I recall the gun. Quite a system. Sure looks like a collector piece.

Well predicting the future can be hit or miss for sure.
As to rarity, I put this set of un-cataloged 45/8" Fixed Sight Single-Six revolvers, with the future in mind.

I've extended my Ruger Mark II pistol collecting to early VQ MK pistols. And Clark MKII pistols. Clark is not building any more Ruger .22 pistols. Pic is of latest one I picked up.
