sometimes groups or fund raising promotions allow paying guests a chance to shoot some history. (a john wayne gun, full auto, etc)

i guess id have to say it was a parker A1 owned by the governor of maryland.

Not sure, but probably the M-1917 Browning MG. Although I did get to shoot a full auto M-14 once. Both of these and a couple others were a looonng time ago, however.

In 1994, I had the good fortune to shoot a Mashburn Arms Company rifle in 7mm Mashburn Super Magnum. It was a 1951 model IIRC, and that sucker launched a 160 grain bullet at 3,200 FPS, about the same as the Weatherby or Remington Ultra Mag 7mms...hot stuff indeed.

I don't know what it was, but when I was a kid my Dad would to hot tank blueing. A customer brought in a 16ga. shot gun like I had never seen before. You broke it open and loaded it like any other double-barrel shotgun. The strange/rare thing about it was that about halfway to the muzzle the two barrels merged so that there was only one muzzle. He let us shoot it after it was re-blued. I've never seen another one like it. No idea who made it.

A LH T/C Renegade, double set triggers, in .54 cal. a few hundred were made over T/C's entire existence. One batch with the original tapered blade front sight, one batch with the more modern bead front sight.

A T/C Contender in .25/35, and .218 Bee. I asked why he didn't own the .256 Rem Mag as well, and have the trifecta of "can't buy ammo" calibers.

Equally rare and keeping with the Ruger Forum theme: Ruger S1L in .222 second year of production.
Likely small numbers as I've only seen the one: A Ruger Blackhawk in .38/40, with its matching and evidently more popular .44/40 stablemate.

At Contender's first RF meet Frustrated Middle Child brought a .22 rifle with a curved stock. It was for right hand shooters who were left eye dominant. You held it righty, but the barrel was aligned with your left eye so the sight picture was exactly like it should look to a lefty.

The design was beautifully executed, and I imagine quite rare. I regret not getting a pic.

I have an original Kentucky long rifle that my father had hung on the wall along with a British rifle. i Don't know much about it or how to date it but we did shoot it many years ago. I believe I was 14 or 15 and I'm 65 now. It will never shoot again but both are sitting in my safe and I have the memories to go along with them.

Above I mentioned a Mashburn Arms 7mm, but want to add a handgun. The model itself isn't rare, but I can't imagine there are too many silver- and gold-plated, Nimschke-engraved, eagle-and-shield mother of pearl gripped versions extant. It's an early smokeless frame Colt Frontier Six Shooter (obviously chambered in 44 WCF aka 44-40) that's been in my friend's family for several generations. He doesn't handload and wanted to shoot it so I got to do a deep cleaning and thorough inspection and then work up a nice load using hand-cast bullets and Trail Boss. It shoots better than it looks!
