Anyone have experience with this blued version of his GP100 in 327 Federal with the 5-1/2 inch half lug barrel? I'am a 327 fan and own a LCR, SP101 and a Henry carbine in this caliber. The Model 1769 really appeals ton and would like to hear some hands on comments.

Thanks,
charlie

I have one. It is extremely accurate, although very heavy for the caliber. There is virtually no recoil, but plenty of noise with full power 327 loads. The wood grips aren't much too look at, but I still prefer them to synthetic in a light recoiling gun.

I have one & couldn't be more pleased with it. It's one of my favorite Ruger's and it's my proven to be the most accurate of my Ruger 327's with heavy for caliber cast bullets.

Nice to read about but never found one to lay hands on.
Even when they were available , very scarce.
I have a 4" full under lug from a previous printing and would have gladly done a "upgrade " if I ever had a chance.
Will jump on one if I ever see one.

Closest thing I could find was this SP several years ago. It's a neat little six shooter.

Thanks for your replies guys! Heard exactly what I expected to hear about this revolver. Now I've got to find one. Hopefully can trade my SP101 4.2 for one.

Oh NO !
Never lose track of a 4.2 327 SP-101,,,,, never.
A very special gun that has its own set of uses that it excels at.
It is probably gonna take a while to find any form of GP 327 so just start saving the money and be ready .
Both is really the answer. ;)

I just sent my 327 GP 100 stainless to Dawson's Doubles for sale. Am looking for an SP101 in 327 as a carry piece. GP was too heavy. MY LGS says he may be getting one in trade. Hope so. I had Ranger Point Precision make me up a rifle in 327. So far, I have just been looking at it. Between then and now have become disabled. Just cannot bring myself to sell it. Am a perfect example of" idle mind being devil's workshop". I broke my leg and while scrolling net, saw a Gary Reeder Blackhawk in327. Bought it. mentioned it at the time on here. Seems like folks love him or hate him. I like the revolver though.

It's my favorite GP100 configuration and caliber. The only changes made were action/trigger work from Dave Clements, and I switched the grips to the ones used on the GP100 Match Champion. The factory grips feel fantastic but they are slick, especially if your hands get moist. Gloves could be another solution.
