General 1911 question about brand. Was in a pawn shop the other day and they had what look like an unfired ATI full-size 1911 it was used it looked great I went over it it felt great, tight and not screwed with. Everything looked right about it! This gun was $450 it looked to be stainless steel upper and lower, nice touches beaver tail, trigger, Magwell! I know nothing about ATI I believe it said Titan on it or something with a T. I know I read about it some place years ago, probably just a add in a magazine. just curious about this gun where it was made-looking using Google I get various answers. Everything from originates in the Philippines, too it's made out of zinc! I certainly couldn't tell as it didn't have the pot metal look some of the cheap guns have. The finish was a dull stainless steel but not brushed! Look too good to be true to me . Didn't buy it as I have quite a few 1911's! Thanks! George

Their .45s are Philippine-made. Generally, Philipine 1911 .45's are decent, solid pistols. Their "1911" .22's are made in Germany and, yes, the slides for the .22's are zinc - - just like the slides of the .22 Walther PPK's

I've carried one every day for the last 7 years. It's had a couple thousand rounds shot through it with no problems.

I have an officers model .45 acp ATI Titan. It is well made with a good trigger. I can't afford to shoot it much as I am still gathering bullet molds and brass.

I have an ATI PCC. 9mm rifles have a reputation of breaking firing pins., especially with hiperfire triggers cause they hit so hard. So I called ATI and asked to buy a couple of new ones. They were in the process of evacuating for a hurricane. Lady told me they didn't have any in stock but would get back with me after the storm. About a week later she called and told me two were on the way, free of charge. Been carrying them in my range bag ever since. 10s of thousands of competition rounds later, original is still fine.

If I end up going up that way again it's only about an hour away from me I'll see if it's still there I think $450 is probably the upper end for that gun in that configuration that I mentioned in my first post. I may be able to get it for less but I have a few 1911 do I really need another? I'm old and health is not good. But it felt and looked like a darn nice gun particularly in stainless steel which I like, again looked on fire not a mark on it! Thank you very much for all the information on ATI! George

That puts you in an excellent position to negotiate from. Even at 450 in todays market I doubt you can get hurt. May only break even, but my instincts tell me in the coming days you will see an even greater demand. If it works out to be a good running 1911 as most are, you will have one for the mud, blood, and whatever.

jgt, thanks for your input! Still contemplating on it as I have more than my share in that caliber and 3 in1911 one government and two officer models. This one I'm contemplating is also a government model, wish it was a commander. Jgt, sorry I still have not reported back on my 1911 officers model with the problem that I posted some time ago. But I'm hoping to go to the pits to give it a good run and I'll let you know how it's running now. If you remember slide was indiscriminately locking open with live rounds still in the mags. George
