My wish for their lever action build would be something in 357 or 41 mag. Liking the 41 Mag means I'm well into the minority of potential buyers.
heck yeah! .41 mag lever gun with a 16-18" barrel, take my money!

I had the opportunity to shoot the new Ruger/Marlin lever gun in 45-70 at the recent AZ Game and Fish Outdoor Expo at the Ben Avery Shooting Range by Phoenix. I have to say the action was very smooth and with my old eyes and the Skinner peep sight I was hitting out at 100yds shooting standing off hand. I did not care for the polished stainless steel look though.

Personally, I hope they roll the 39A back out and if they'd make a lever chambered in 327 Federal, I'd be overjoyed (and on the waiting list day one). Henrys are okay guns, but their rimfires are not terribly accurate in my experience (yes, I do own one, and have fired a half-dozen others) and their 327s have to go back to the factory an inordinate amount of time.

No matter what pistol caliber they bring out in a 1894, its not as good as a Henry design. The 1894 Marlin just sucks ! The only ones (the actions) ever worth a dang were specifically made for cowboy action like the 32 H&R or 45 Colt. And, I think someone forgot to tell Adam at RangerPointPrecision that rimless pistol cartridges won't work well…LOL !

The 444, 308mx, and 30-30 is what they shoulda stuck with. I see why they went the 45/70 route, honestly, a 308 Win in a Henry Long Ranger could possibly be the only gun much less levergun that anyone needs. The 45/70 works within its range and is a siren song to those with a grandiose fantasy of bear encounters.

If they were smart they would create their own 30 cal derivative or just stick with the 308 Marlin Express. They might as well move the gun into the future because cheap 30-30 ammo is gone so if you gotta pay the same money, might as well be a more capable cartridge.

Ruger should use the 9422 as the lever 22 pattern and dump the damdable 39 !

Hi,

Honest question time: a buddy bought a 39A in HS. Late '60s. I had a Nylon 66. I shot his 39A a few times and liked it. Accuracy was in line with the Remington, and everyone else who shot that rifle liked it, too. What's wrong with it? (The Nylon 66 was stolen, and my buddy has passed away, so we can't do a "Half century later head to head" with them now.)

BTW, I don't remember Ruger doing a bang up job with the 96/22. Would copying a Winchester (9422) buy them anything? What did I miss? Maybe in today's world .22 lever rifles are best left to Henry.

There isn't anything "wrong" with it and its solid. Its a little parts thing that I don't care for and like the 9422 design much better.

In heirloom considerations the Henry is a piece of pot metal crap innards wise.

The 9422 is the best, smoothest, most reliable, easiest to disassemble, and robust design to me.

Tex obviously likes Winchester. I have both Winchester and Marlin .22 leverguns. Centerfired of both as well. I prefer the Marlin 39A over the Winchester 9422.

But then some folks like scrambled others over easy. You pays "your" money and takes "your" choice.

Interesting. I own two Henrys one std carbine the other with 24' octagon barrel(frontier) and find both of them to shoot quite well?

I don't think they shoot poorly, but I have never gotten groups as tight from a Henry as I am capable of shooting with a couple other rimfires I own, no matter what ammo I use...Ruger 10/22, Marlin 39TD, and CZ452 are all more accurate (although to be fair, not much can keep up with the CZ!).

I also have a couple CZ's one Lux trainer 452 and one American (set trigger) 453's in .22lr. You are correct in that they shoot extremely well. I have a Ruger Precision .22lr, and two Ruger American .22lr, one heavy barrel and one std. The CZ shoots better!

Cases blown in half around circumference of case. Marlin claimed head space and bolt thrust issue. Ranger point precision claimed headspace issue.

If they make at least 2 in 41mag... I will take the other one.

Is Rem/ Marlin stupid ? No , but we have to look at pure business bottom line , not enthusiasts wish list .

There are other .30-30 on the marketplace . There are other revolver caliber l leverguns on the marketplace .

The M1895 .45-70 is relatively unique , and there is pent up demand eager to pay full list for premium variants .
