Sorry, that is not the definition of what a 'pistol' is. This definition Is the the generic misuse of the word. Look al lot further. This 'definition' you found is a result of people, as yourself, that do not know the true meaning and use it generically. I can show you other places where there is a real definition of 'pistol', and it is clearly where the round is in the barrel. This, of course, rules out revolvers!

In modern language, pistol is described any hand gun.
I was taught growing up the distinction between pistol and revolver but, many weren't.
Seems both have merit.
This discussion is akin to 9mm v. 40 cal or best gun for bear, etc. ;)
=========================================================

In contrast with modern colloquial usage, the term is technically synonymous with any handgun type, including all revolvers and derringers.

I run red dots on most of my revolvers but have a few set up for long range squirrel thumping in the pecan groves.

A couple Single Six Hunters

A Blackhawk Hunter and a Redhawk, both .44

Verry nice collection! I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 2-6 power on my 7.5" Super Redhawk seems to hole zero well.

Wrong! A pistol is not a generic item. It is specifically a hangun where the ammo is loaded in the barrel. You apparently do not know what the meaning of 'pistol' is. Revolvers are not pistols of any kind, in any way.
Tell Samuel Colt he was wrong. Or Smith & Wesson. While the usage of the word has come to be synonymous with autoloading handguns, it was not originally and it is still NOT incorrect to use it when referring to any handgun. Much like the 45 Colt vs. Long Colt, it may be annoying to some, but it is documentable that the term is correct from a historical standpoint, and every dictionary defines a pistol as a one-handed firearm, including dictionaries from the early 1900s.

My SBH Hunter .41 MAG had a Simmons scope on it when I bought it.

I don't hunt so didn't need it.

Have a 7 1/2 Redhawk .41 Magnum with a stainless 2X Weaver, a .30 carbine Blackhawk with 3X TC Lobo, and a Single Six 10 inch with a 2.5X Bushnell Phantom. The latter will shoot 1/2 inch groups on sandbags at 25 yards all day long. Love scopes on handguns, just not off hand. Shows me just how bad I can hold!

Every handgun I use for hunting from
.22 to .460 S&W is either scoped or has a red dot. I am 61 years old and can't see Iron sight that well anymore especially all black sights at dawn or dusk.

I am not sorry nor do I feel bad about it.

My old time hunting buddy had one of the SBH Hunter models with the scope cuts on the barrel. The barrel kept unscrewing itself and he swapped it for a Redhawk.
I have 3 scoped revolvers which I haven't shot for years. Probably should 're-home' them.

Oh, guess I forgot about my Contenders. Have a 3x Lobo on a 218 Bee, and a 2x Burris on a 30-30 12". Don't shoot my 3 Contenders much any more. Have about 6 barrels I think. With prices being as high as they are on used ones now, probably should sell the whole collection. That 218 Bee will group around an inch at 100 yards on a rest, but haven't shot a prairie dog in years now!

I have "Reference Revolvers" for each caliber and most are scoped to keep me from fouling my testing data.

You don't have to quite shooting just because you can't see the target.
