I have two of them. The original has about 1100 rds through it. The only failure was a bad Tula round, solid primer strike, no ignition.

IMO its trigger is better than any of several Glocks I've owned. I like the option of a manual safety (don't like it, don't use it) and like the obvious loaded chamber indicator. 10 rd double stack mag means it's more compact than 17 or 19 rd Glocks. If you want more, their 17 rd mags work and have a spacer to fill the gap.

If you reload, big plus over Glocks. Conventional rifling means you can fire lead slugs w/o issue unlike Glocks polygonal rifling.

Got a second SR9C, put Tru Glow tritium/fiber optic sights on it and use the older one for a range gun. New gun has 240 flawless round through it.

I bought one in July of 2011 and it was the worst gun I ever bought. There was a gap between the slide and frame of over 1/16" and I could squeeze them together - poor machining or assembly I guess. At the range the best I could do is an 8-10" circle at 40'. I took it back to the shop and they did some adjustments to it, but it still shot erratically. Finally I traded it back to the shop for a Springfield that I could shoot a 2" circle. What a hunk of junk. Although I have several other Ruger guns that are top notch shooters, that SR9 was the crappiest gun I ever had.

First-time shooter in a basic pistol class last fall.
30 rounds out of a MkI Target, @ 15 feet, with great consistency.
Followed by 10 rounds out of his Ruger LCP... only to be disappointed - not all shots hit color.

I handed him a stock SR9C, and this was the result at 15 feet: (he is a cross-dominant lefty)
Note the two multi-shot holes.
Obviously high on his list is obtaining a clean SR9 or SR9C in the near future.

I have a Ruger 9E, the economy SR 9 in essence. Those guns are well designed, better than the Glock, I have seen videos of the compact gun shooting groups of 1.5" at 25 yards. The SR9 compares in size with the Glock 19, but with better capacity.
My 9E is a real shooter, I shoot almost exclusively cast bullets, this is a practical carry gun, I have large hands and it fits me well. I had a problem bear a couple of summers back and the 9E with my cast bullets hand loads dispatched the bear.
