On another forum, they posted a Ruger Appreciation thread. Thought I'd post my collection over here, so you guys could appreciate it.

BearPaw Jack: Sorry you can't see this because you have me on "Ignore"==you might appreciate this :(

Rugers are my love, next to Colt SAAs. Not that I have anything against S & Ws but my Smiths are more work horses==no frills. Ruger SAs have been my weak-spot since I got my first one for graduation in 1968.

Start off with: A custom SBH by Gary Reeder in 454 Casull:

Then, my OM 45 Convertible with a Randall Model 23. Porcupineine ate the Randall handle (pun was intentional), so I replaced it with buffalo horn to match the pistol.

OM 41 mag with sheep-horn grips from Patrick Grashorn:

A 357 OM: This one is going off to Tyler's Gunworks for conversion to 38-40:

OM 30 Carbine:

OM 357:

Original (OM) Flattop 44 mag with Ivory by Boone Trading Co:

Lipsey's 44 spl with Grashorn grips:

My wife's Vaqueros for SASS (357 mag)=also Grashorns:

"Old model" Vaquero in 45 Colt and "Bisleyfied"==Formerly mine:

Old model Single Six (also have 2 Super Single Sixes):

My "OM" Vaquero in 45 Colt:

Wife's 41Magnum:

OM Superblackhawk:

3.5" Vaquero in 45 Colt:

Missing is my NM "200 year" model SBH.

Very nice bunch! I had to look very close at a couple of them. I have a few that if I read a few of your serials correctly, come within a few hundred of each other. Made me look harder,,,,,,,,,,!

BearBio,
Thanks for posting the pics of such nice examples!
I've got an OM .41 mag that I'd like to see with a similar grip color to yours -I especially like the contrast that big horn sheep grips bring to a blued (or, CCH'd) single action.
Nice collection!

Grip answers:

The faux ivory on the Vaquero is from Western and Wildlife Wonders here in Central Washington. I don't know if he can do any more. The last time I saw him (at the pizza parlor in town), he said he was almost out of that color/tint and he couldn't find any more.

The big-horn are from Patrick Grashorn=a true gentleman and artist. I had mentioned that I wanted a pair and he had some sheep- horn around. I have a second pair on my OM 30 Carbine (the one pictured above) but I literally waited a year for him to get some more (it was like 11 1/2 months!). BTW: I have two matching knives from Bark River.

Here's the newer pair. They are more of a "rosy" color than the picture makes it look.

And the 41 mag with the first of the Bark River knives.

Thank you all for the compliments. This week I will be shipping the Vaquero off to Bobby Tyler at Tyler Gunsmithing (he's a member here) for conversion to 38-40. Still working out the details. I know that Patrick Grashorn has a set of sheep-horns with my name on them. I'm thinking (now but it might change by lunch) to have an unfluted cylinder, sheep horn grips, 5 1/2" barrel, and Bisley hammer and trigger.

(ps: Bark River has a really nice Bowie in sheephorn with a coffin handle)

Just an update:

The Vaquero has left the building! Bobby has it and I sent him samples of the engraving I want. The barrel is a 5.5 from a third generation Colt and a new cylinder is being made. Fire blued screws of course. Maybe case hardening.

I ordered (and received) a Bowie with big horn scales. The sheath has been deconstructed, died, and re-stitched with sinew. A copper concho has been added.

I have ordered "The Shootist" from El Paso Saddlery. When it arrives, I will deconstruct it and die the leather a deep mahogay. Copper conchos and a copper buckle will also be added. Then, when Bobby is done with his artistry, I'll post pictures.

Talked to Bobby last night. He's starting the metal work today and hopes to have things off to the engraver by Friday. I will be starting on a sheath/retainer strap that will also be a sheath for a small patch/utility knife.

Schedule is first part of August if things go right.

Very nice collection!

I really appreciate the rugged utility look of the Ruget SA's.
