Looking for the value of a rifle I have. Thinking about selling it possibly. Its an Ultra-Light M77 MKII in 7mm-08. From what I have researched it was made in 1999. Its 1 of 500 made for Davidson's. Target Grey. Mint condition. Its called the Whitetail Classic. Thanks in advance.

Not sure how to post pics.

With 140+ views on the topic here and the lack of replies says a little.

Here is my take on them and is my opinion only so take it for what you want...

A 1 of 500 is not really rare. Rare is an over used term anymore. Uncommon yes , but I'd not say rare. I have and have had Ruger's that were 1 of 25 or 1 of 50 editions that you can call rare.

My second thought on these is that Ruger screwed up when they put the target grey finish on them instead of just leaving them in a satin stainless. I for one really dislike that finish and I'm sure lots of others feel the same way. That hurts the desirability of that model. When these came out , a local shop had a couple of them that sat for 2 years on the rack. Not exactly a brisk seller. I'm a Ruger nut and passed on them even when the price was slashed trying to rid them of his shelf space.

It was a nice try by Ruger but it didn't quite fly. Putting an engraved floor plate on an otherwise basic rifle and calling it a limited edition for a premium price doesn't make it so. Now if they would have at least put it in a decent stock vs the plastic maybe that would have helped.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble here but like I said that's only my take on things. If you really want to find a value for it , list it on GunBroker and see what it does. Then you will know but I really don't think you are sitting on a highly desireable "rare" model here.

I have to agree with rugerjunkie. But it is a nice deer rifle that is also suitable for smaller frame shooters as well. You might decide what you have to get out of it and list it in the classified here. Good chance someone may want it.

I bought one in 7mm-08. The chamber was imperfect and I had to send it back. I received a new barrel but it never shot gangbusters. I recall getting no better then 3" @ 100 yards with good US ammo? which the rep said was within spec. Traded it up for another 308 GSR/laminated. Never looked back.

I believe your unfired ANIB example might bring $500 if you have time to look/wait for a buyer who is looking for one. It is a M77 through-and-through, including the trigger. Shoot that rifle, it should be a gem.

I agree with rugerjunkie…. However, a light rifle in 7/08 is desirable without the collector value
