Bought one of these from Cimarron several months ago and have made up some .44 Special loads using 200 and 245 gr. cast bullets and 5 grs. of Red Dot which is lower level Cowboy Action load according to my Speer Load manual.
Shoots really well and the revolver rolls back in the hand nice. Is this too hot for an open top revolver? The Red Dot loads seem to group much better than Unique.

I wouldn't push it, but I'd say standard .44 Special Loads should be fine. That said if I had one of those, I just load it up with Black Power and call it good :) ... At the very least what an equivalent smokeless powder load would be as a replacement. No need to batter the o' gun.
