Just acquired a Ruger Precision in .22LR, I have pretty good scope that I like that has rim fire rings, discovered that the mount on the Ruger is sized for standard rings. would have been nice if this had been mentioned in the literature. I could have acquired everything on the initial trip when I purchased the rifle. Now I have to go out and find a set of rings for the scope I have, or buy a new scope with standard rings.

From what I see at the Ruger site, there is no indication of what diameter telescopic sight is necessary.

My RPR 22LR came with a picatinny style rail (base).
They do list the rail in the literature. "Anodized Picatinny scope base includes 30 MOA elevation for increased long-range capabilities out of the box."

In reality, the "22 dovetail" mount is far less stabile or secure than the "picatinny" or Weaver type base/ring configuration.
In addition, the Weaver/PIC mount has greater adjustability and is much cheaper and easier to find than the Ruger proprietary base/ring setup that many other Ruger rimfires have.
