Wish Ruger would make them with detachable box magazines. Maybe 12 -14 rounds.

If they had a detachable box mag, it had better fit flush for that carbine, otherwise it's a crime against humanity. Sorta rules out a 12-14 round magazine. Now, if you want to do it to the Deerfield, go for it.

I had a couple of them in the past. They were both hard on brass rims. Ejector left a pretty good mark on the brass. I learned to use brass I didn't mind only getting a few loads out of . Otherwise, the were fine rifles.

State of confusion.
Make sure the recoil block is tight to the stock. From what I understand, a cracked stock or broken block can be the result of firing the rifle with a loose block.

A 12-14 mag would not be too popular. DNR req 5+1 for semi autos used in hunting.

Nice gun. Ill probably be using my 77/44 this season for sure as a back u to my
AR 25/45 Sharps. Shots most places are 125 yrds or LESS.. Few longer ones in cutovers and power lines.

My last deer w/ 77/44 was about 70 yrds. She'd still be going except for that stop and look back..

Great find on a great little rifle. Several friends used them with great success on Florida white tails and hogs decades ago. hittman's spot on about jacketed bullets only, lead plugs up the gas ports.
