Well hello again, finally, everyone!
It's been a long time since I started this thread, and a whole ton of life has interfered with my continued participation in this research, but things have finally settled down, after literally years, for me and I'm glad to see that this project is still going and that there are a lot of interested and motivated people who have picked this up and carried it forward.
Still have my two 44s and they still go out every fall during firearms season here in north central Indiana. The difference is now two of the grandkids have claimed them!
I have an off topic question to ask of the group, and thought that someone here on the No 3 thread might remember or have a suggestion for me.
The question is this: there is information out there, somewhere, about turning a No 3 into a "No 2" by swapping out the stocks for No 1 wood. I have been considering doing that with my rifles, because then I won't have to worry about the original wood getting damaged/ dinged during hunting. And because it seems like a fun project to play with. Seems to me I have read about this somewhere- maybe here on the forum even- but seem to be coming up blank. Anybody have any information on doing this, or maybe can direct me where to look?
Thanks as usual1
