Model numbers

Well...They finally did it. This section is open to all 1911 talk. We love Mr. Ruger's guns, but J.M.B. was certainly there in the running for top spot.

Interesting, at least to me, little twist...

I just recently acquired the two Shootists 30th Anniversary prototype SR1911s that were submitted by Ruger for evaluation and approval by our Board. Both are model 6703...which is the Navy Seal gun!

They are consecutive serial numbers. One is all blued, with the Ruger standard SR1911 wood grips, the other is two-tone with the Shootists 30th Anniversary commemorative grips.

Little bit late but we have to add the new stainless 'officer's size' in .45acp.

6762 Officer size (3.6” barrel) compact stainless, in .45 ACP

Sort of was expecting a LW version of this. :?

Only new model I'm aware of is the Ruger Custom Shop 'officer's' model, number 6779.

The lack of new models, even distributor specials, plus the number for sale and actual selling prices on Gunbroker.com suggest to me that the demand for Ruger's 1911 is not very strong.
I'm beginning to wonder how much longer Ruger will make these.

I think Ruger has priced themselves out of the 1911 market, as they seem to doing with some other models, too.

Just my opinion...

I've become aware of a couple of new model numbers:

**
6787 Commander size, 10mm, Custom Shop. Black slide, alloy frame, blue grips, GT logo,
GUN TALK CUSTOM GT25 COMMANDER 10MM, 250 made? (Projected production was to be 500 but it appears it might actually be closer to 250)
**
6790 Standard size, 10mm, Blued slide, Stainless frame, rubber grips, target rear sight, Davidson’s exclusive. (Known: 673-42966)

Ruger has slimmed down their 1911 offerings but they seem to be back in production.
