My apologies if this subject has been brought up before. I just purchased a SR 1911 Commander size 45acp (steel) and would really like some ideas on upgrading the stock sights that come on the pistol.
Fiber optic front may be good but not required. Pistol used as a nightstand pistol as well as shooting at local range
Thanks

My suggestion is to . . . shoot it . . . at least one thousand rounds before you decide
something needs changed. After that, you know what you really need, verses what
you thought at first.

I have more than one 1911 so I can say, clearly, that I prefer Hogue rubber grips,
WITH the palm swell. Once again, that is from shooting, and shooting, and shooting.
They just feel "right" to me.

YOU, need to find what works best for you. A guess, or an "I think" . . . may be very
good, or may waste your money. Subtitled: go slowly and try changes, one at a time.

As a P.S. I purchase 1911s with "night sights" because, once again, they have
proven to be most useful . . . for me.

YMMV

Thanks for all of the good suggestions. For the time being (good idea or not) I have blacked out the rear sight and put a dab or Neon Orange on the front site. Will see if that helps.
Again, thanks for the suggestions

If you do decide to change sights, BE SURE you get a good quality sight pusher.
Far too many shade-tree gun smiths try to do adjustments/replacements with a
punch and end up buggering the slide and sights.

The "least expensive" are around $40 and, IMO, those over $200, while good, are
having you expend far more money than necessary. I recommend something near
$100+-.
