Style firing pin block or are they traditional 1911A1 style?
I have been offered one from an estate sale but don't have
it in my hands yet to determine this answer but if it has the
Series 80 then I'll pass, thanks in advance.

Thanks Cholo, I now feel much better about the one I'm buying. If it were an 80
series I am committed to buying it and won't renege on the deal but I would then
sell it as fast as I could to at least recoup my fairly low investment in favor of something,
almost anything really, else.

They do not have a mechanical firing pin safety like the Colt Series 80 pistols (and other manufacturers use the Series 80 system also). They have a Titanium firing pin and an extra strong firing pin spring for drop protection. A point of interest is the new Colt "Series 70" pistols I have also have a Titanium firing pin although they use a normal firing pin spring.
