I have seen some of these for sale, any thoughts from 1911 owners? Given that I don't own any .45s, it would be another caliber to inventory, but these sure look nice and I'm guessing that I could expect the reliability that I have experienced from my other Rugers. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

If you decide to go with a 1911, I suggest you get a copy of
https://www.amazon.com/Colt-45-automatic-shop-manual/dp/B0006EVYAU

It is amazing how complex the 1911 is . . . until you learn how it goes together.
After which you will find it very easy to maintain; a well maintained 1911 is a whole
lot of fun to shoot. I've seen many that are capable of one hole in the target at
25 feet with the bull being less than two inches (full mag - 8 rounds).

Have fun, shoot safe. :D

P.S. Several models are available in 9mm.

Personal prejudice:
MANY lubricants will do very well and I've had excellent results with FP10 that
Kimber recommends, plus I like Slipstream for the slide and frame rails. :D

My SIL came up to CO a few years back with a brand new, still in the box, Colt.
He was cleaning it prior to going to the range, next day. I asked if he had ever
tried the Slipstream and he said no . . . . (expression on face said "OK CRAP,
wife's daddy wants me to try it"), and said OK, would you put some on? I did and
handed it back to him. He worked the slide near a dozen times and with almost
deer in the headlights expression said "WOW! WHERE DO I GET SOME?" He
has been using it since.

I'm sure there are many brands that will do very well for you, the above work well
for me. 8)

I have a pair of SR1911s, one a Commander and one full sized,
and one all stainless Les Baer full sized and have found that on
all stainless 1911s, that the product made by Rig known as
+P works really well on slide rails and the underside of the slide
for the disconnector cut. I am going to look into Slipstream as
well given the recommendations here, thanks folks.

My .02. I Use Plane Ole S T P Oil Treatment On A Cotton Q-Tip. On My Rails And Underside. No Problems. And It's CHEAP. FP-10 Every Where Else.
