Gun Talk 10mm Commander - how many? Highest S.N. 237 ?

Well...They finally did it. This section is open to all 1911 talk. We love Mr. Ruger's guns, but J.M.B. was certainly there in the running for top spot.

Gun Talk 10mm Commander - how many? Highest S.N. 237 ?

Post by Terry T »

Anyone get one of these? Model 6787, Ruger Custom Shop 10mm "commander" with GT (Gun Talk radio) on slide.
The highest ser. no. I've seen, and one of the last shipped before they dropped off the web, is GT25-0237.
They were projecting to make 500.

Anyone shot one yet?
Thanks,
Terry T.

I finally called Dury's Gun Shop, the sole source of these Ruger 1911 Gun Talk 25 year 10mm "commanders". The nice fellow I spoke with said they are "sold out" and that only about 300 - 318 were actually produced! Apparently, according to him, Ruger "ran out of material" to keep producing them. The "supply chain issues". They've left the door open to produce more but it doesn't look promising.
This is turning out to be a low production (rare), unique Ruger SR1911!

I remember listening to Tom Gresham talking about this gun. My impression was the number could be much lower than that so I'm glad to hear that many were produced. Some guy called in and had a lower number gun, so Tom, didn't get the prestigious model, I'm sure he would have liked.
