How many of these do you see?

I got to fondle one today that's still in the box.

I'm such a No. 1 newbie I had no clue they came in this caliber.

What do you suppose something like this is worth?

My guess would be $1,500 - $1,800 as it is in a rare caliber. FWIW, I have a Ruger® No 1 1978 manufactured in 7mm Rem Mag and I turned down offers in the $1,200 range. Ruger® is hardly making them anymore and their last listed MSRP was $2,199. Only three are offered this year in 257 Wby, 275 Rigby (7x57), and 6.5 Creedmoor and those three are all Lipsey's Distributer Exclusives and they don't even list a price.

I used to have a Ruger Magnum (bolt-action) 416 Rigby with nice wood The cartridges are large and they hold a lot of powder, but being a low-pressure cartridge, the kick was more like a shotgun. With a nice custom butt pad, the gun was incredibly easy to shoot (but hard on the wallet!). Something about bullets in .416 and .375 that were just expensive to purchase even when I did load my own. I always thought that the .416 is the ideal do-it-all cartridge, and no better rifle than the No.1. For what it's worth, I used to own a No.1 in .416 (Ruger or ??,… not Rigby) but only bought so I could get it converted to a 500 S&W No.1
