SR22 threaded barrel

I'm looking to get a threaded barrel for my SR22. Ruger says that their kit only works with serial# 361-7xxx and higher. My serial# is below that (360-xxxx). Will the Ruger kit still work? Will the TwinTech barrel work with it? They are out of stock right now. Or should I just get my barrel threaded?

IMHO
I have very little faith that the barrel retention fixture (a tiny screw) will support the use of a "muzzle device" long term if subjected to even moderate stress.
