greetings,

yesterday I saw one of these at a LGS. it was the stainless 5" with the flat barrel, and some kind of scope with antlers on the cap. they were asking $699 for it. is that a good price?

TIA

What condition is the gun in?
Did they use factory drilled holes to mount the scope or is that a do-it-yourself job?
Antlers sounds like maybe the Browning logo. (??)

I think Competition Target models should have the 6 7/8 inch long barrel but could be wrong.

Does it include the factory box, owners manual, etc.?
How many magazines are included?

If it's a 5.5" slab-side, it might be a hidden gem. Off the top of my head there were a couple runs of them- KMK512GC for Big Rock Sports (IIRC), and the 2004 KMK512GCUS "Victory in Athens" pistol (part of proceeds to support U.S. Shooting Team).

Big Rock sample had black laminate grips, in the "regular" profile:

The "Victory in Athens" version had a fiber optic front sight. The trigger and the rear of the bolt were gold colored, and it had black laminate grips with a thumbrest for a right-handed shooter.

There used to be a Bushnell "Trophy" 2-6X handgun scope that was well regarded for a mid-priced pistol scope. They had antlers on the turret caps, at least for a while. I think they were around $120 when I first noticed them, but I closer to $200 by the end of their run...

no front sight, so that eliminates one option. it was indeed the 5.5 inch, my typing was sloppy. guess I'd better go back tomorrow and take a good look at it. thanks :D

699 sounds a little high , especially with the front sight missing.

I didn't see any holes, nor any sign that there had ever been a front sight. :?:

In that case, I wonder if the barrel has been cut back(?).

If it has been cut back, I think it's way overpriced.

Any details on the scope brand/model? What kind of mounts did it have?

Nothing I've heard so far screams out, "That's a $700 gun!" :p

I had one once and didn't find it shot any better than my 5.5" MKll "Target". It was also more ammo sensitive, so out it went. And that price is way more than I'd pay or what it's worth. But hey, it's your money. :)
