My son-in-law was killed in an auto crash in July of 1979. He had a couple of Single Actions, including this 5" barreled Three Screw Super Blackhawk. After reading an article by J.D. Jones, he had the barrel shortened to 5". Shortly after his death, my daughter gave the gun to me. Here, in its configuration as I received it:

Then tried it with elk stag grips from Eagle Grips:

Then sent the gun off to Doug Turnbull via Dave Clements for some finishing touches:

In its current appearance with fancy walnut grips from CaryC. Round count now stands at around 18,000 rounds fired:

(With Three Screw Blackhawk stocked with mesquite, also from CaryC.)

Bob,

Awfully nice!!!!!!

What caliber is the Blackhawk?

That is a Flat Top .357 Magnum. I bought that gun while at Camp Roberts in May of 1958! Bought it at a gun shop in Paso Robles. I've relegated it to .38 Specials only now.

(Later) Got to thinking about that gun. Bought it in California when I was 19 years old. Kept it on base with me, then flew home with it in my duffel bag when I got transferred. Times do change!
