GP100 Target style hammer

I would agree that a single-piece new hammer with a built-in extension would be ideal, but it might require work to fit, since Ruger doesn't offer even a stock replacement hammer. How about an attached extension, like this one, at Midway?:

If you want a better hammer, as far as I know, the only real option is a custom smith who can make something like this:

I have used the hammer extensions on my Contenders but will not use it on a revolver. May have to get mine redone like the one in your picture onty. Factory hammer is just so small.

Vicknair followed one approach machining a new hammer from scratch. Another approach is to build up the thumb pad via welding. Jim Stroh of Alpha Precision used to do this but he retired. I am sure there are others out there that do this now.
