Stopped by the Sportsman's Warehouse in Kalamazoo this morning. Somewhere, they dug up a bunch of used handguns, and dug up is the the operative term here. Besides the four (or more?) security sixes, they also had a couple of the old s&w semi autos 59xx, a slew of old smith revolvers, and even a couple of old Colt Cobras. Prices were a bit elevated, as you might expect, and none of the guns were in very good cosmetic condition. Strike that: they looked horrible.
The security sixes were all short barrel, and all 38 or 357. One was stainless.

Sounds like a small PD needed some cash and so they cleaned out the arsenal. If they were issue guns then the problems could be nothing more than finish wear and just needing a good cleaning.

Are you that guy?

Actually yes I am. I am a pretty serious collector of the Six series revolvers and have bought/refurbished and sold a good number of them over the years. A small example is in my write up abpout the Huntsville, AL gun show that ROCS was invited to (http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=292383) .

I really like the Six Series double actions but in this case agree that Ron is the guy to own these guns!

I'd go take a look at those. I stumbled into a 5906 at a great price a few years ago and was amazed at just how good a gun it is. To this day I haven't found ANY full-size 9mm at any price I like better. The only thing I'd improve is, sometimes I wish it were the alloy-framed 5904, but when actually shooting it I prefer the full weight. Good stuff!

Went there and couldn't find any used guns listed, all new and most OOS.

Oh well, such is life.
Same here.
