What Ruger Revolvers in what chamberings would have been available in the year of my birth, 1965? Tossing around the idea of buying a birth year gun but not sure what I'd like.

I lean towards a .357 Blackhawk but wondering what other options were available. Thanks all.

We share the same year. The closest I've found is a 1960 Bearcat and 63 Blackhawk 357. Not something I have put a lot of effort into, but have the thought that it would be cool. The Blackhawk I found at a gun show, and a couple days later was telling a guy at work about it and he offered to sell his dad's Bearcat to me. Couldn't pass that on up.

Your RENE guide will tell you for sure.

Off hand I'd guess Bearcat, Single Six, Blackhawk and maybe Hawkeyes.

22, 357, 30 Carbine, 256, 41, 44?

I'm just too lazy to dig out my RENE right now!

The first year the OM .41 Mag Blackhawk was introduced was 1965. Serial numbers from 1 to 3819.
There's what to chase!
The 30 Carbines didn't come out until 1968.

Well that didn't take long, 3679 is on Gunbroker right now. Not the condition I'd be looking for but it is there.

You kids have so many decisions. My only choice is a 1950 Ruger Standard. But I haven't worn out my $25 1970 one yet.
Look online for a PDF of the Ruger catalog for the year you want. The Ruger site will give you the serial number range you need.

Here are a list of revolvers that were shipped in 1965, per Dougan's book
Bearcat
Single-Six, Super Single-Six
Chrome Plated Super Single-Sixes
Blackhawk, 357, 41 Mag
Super Blackhawk 44 Mag and a Super Blackhawk with a Brass grip frame (1st year for that. Not sure any were shipped that year but some could have been.)
Hawkeye 256 Win Mag. Less then 20 shipped

I think I'm gonna hunt for a .357 Blackhawk in 4-5/8". I'm a .357 guy and it'll make a nice addition to my other .357 Blackhawks. If'n anybody has one in the appropriate range of 60373-73550 just let me know. Thanks.

That was a good year, 1965!  I didn't know it when I picked up this Single Six at a show a number of years ago, but I believe it was born in 65, my birthyear. I have the original grips and extra cylinder somewhere. Good luck with your search.

My birth year is also 1949 so my birth year gun is from the latest Ruger acquisition. A 1949 Marlin 336SC in 32 win spl.
