It's been said here a thousand times .... with Ruger you never say never.

So I'll only say I really don't think so.

However, there's a number of guys here way way more knowledgeable than me. Hope they chime in soon.

I have a factory-letter-verified ROUND butt Police Service Six I didn't know existed until I bought it.

In the low back series both the adjustable sight and fixed sight revolvers were marked Security Six. Then when Ruger wanted to get into law enforcement sales, they changed the name of the fixed sight model to Police Service Six.

The Speed Six, from all info I could dig up, has always been marked as Speed Six, whether they were low back or high back frames.

Like Hittman (and several others) I also have a "lettered" round butt Police Service Six. Some of us that have one did the comparison of the frames (the PSS and the Speed Six frames are different in the butt area) and the ones marked PSS ARE built on Speed Six frames not PSS frames that had been rounded. Best theory was they did it to finish a contract and they didn't have enough PSS frames.

The reason I asked is I bought a set of grips on EBay that look to be low back Speed Six grips or Service Six. The corners are rounded off. From the picture they don't have the high horns.

If the lower corners are evenly shaped, not like someone took a normal set of grips and tried to make them into a round butt set, then they would be for a low back Speed Six. The top of the low back grip is semi circular and the back edge does not "flare" upwards. This is due to the actual shape of the frame of a low back (the slope of the frame below (behind) the hammer.)

I thought maybe somebody did some sanding trying to fabricate a set of low back grips. The pics aren't that great. But I'm not into them for much. https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/OTYwWDEyODA=/z/zAoAAOSwJCRfe-dJ/$_57.JPG?set_id=8800005007

Oh yeah, I've got a couple sets of those.

Basic standard factory issue low back Speed Six grips.

Look on page two of the Ruger Collecting section; about half way down. Title is something like "S double actions".
