GP in .38 WCF?

Please excuse me if this topic has been covered--sometimes I miss stuff!

Would it be feasible to buy a complete .357 GP cylinder and a spare crane and have a custom shop re-chamber the cylinder to .38 WCF (or .38-40 if you prefer) and then fit them to a 10mm GP?

Or are the 10mm GPs five-shooters?

It has about the same base diameter as a .45 Colt. It may be a little larger, can't remember for sure. I think that the cylinder diameter would make it unsafe

The GP-100 10mm are 6 shooters. The 357 cylinder would probably be too small(not large enough in diameter) for the 38/40. The 401 PowerMag would be the perfect round for the conversion if brass was readily available. The 41 Mag or Special necked down to 40 would work as well. Of course, all of this requires handloading. A factory GP in 41 Special would be just right. There is the 40/44 Woodswalker(44 Mag necked down to 40) that might fit the 357 cylinder.Bob!

I had the 10mm Cylinder from a convertible .40S&W/10mm Blackhawk turned into a .38-40 chambering so I don't think turning a 10mm Gp100 into a .38-40 would be much more. A gunsmith should be able to tell you rather quickly.

Maybe something based off a 41 Mag case would work. I believe a 38 WCF would be too large.

38-40 is much too large for the GP cylinder...............
