I just picked up a New Vaquero with some grips I've never seen before - there is no obvious screw on either side. Just a flat decorative marker on both sides. Any idea on the maker, or how to remove them without destroying them?

If it is a Ruger grip frame either it has been greatly modified into a two piece grip frame with the main spring hanger redone OR more likely, those are decorative wafers or plugs over the normal ferrule holes. I would wager the second option is what you would find.
