I am trying to make a list of the various Super Redhawk Models that have been made. Note I didn't include the Alaskan guns but obviously those were made in 44, 454, and 480 with both a 5 and 6 shot version of the 480.

Anyways, for the Super Redhawks, is the following a complete list?

44 Mag
- 7.5-inch - KSRH7
--> Variats
------> - Super Redhawk on Right Side
------> - Ruger on Both Sides
------> - Target Grey Version (?)
- 9.5 inch - KSRH9
--> Variats
------> - Super redhawk Marked on Both sides of frame extension (3-digit guns)
------> - Super Redhawk on Right Side
------> - Ruger on Both Sides
- Gloss 7.5 - GKSRH-7
- Gloss 9.5 - GKSRH-9

454 Casull
- 7.5-inch - KSRH7454
------> - Target Grey
------> - Satin Stainless (see below)
- 9.5 inch - KSRH9454
------> - Target Grey
------> - Satin Stainless (?)

480 Ruger
- 7.5-inch - KSRH7480
- 9.5 inch - KSRH9480

21-inch Super Redhawks for UK market
- KSRH-21-357 - 357 Magnum version (PHOTOS HERE!)
- KSRH-21 - 44 Mag Version

Foolish me is working on my next quest to go with my Set of Super Blackhawk Hunters and Redhawk "R" models and a set of Super Redhawks would cover all the revolvers from Ruger that were intended from the factory to have scopes mounted.

I don't really have the money to jump into this set but I have been watching the prices and availability so when I do get some money I know a good deal when I find one.

Thanks for any insight into any that I may have missed in my list.

-------------------
More notes from below:

Earliest Super Redhawks were marked "Super Redhawk" on both sides of frame. Then came the guns with "Ruger" on one side and "Super Redhawk" on the other, and finally changed again to say "Ruger" on both sides with "Super Redhawk" marked on the barrel.

Chet posted serial numbers below.

Are D duplicates or Demo guns? Obviously the U guns are used. Either way these are not really models but instead unique examples.

Now, if I am just ignorant can someone tell me what the D guns are if they are really a seperate model?

Duplicates.

Not a "different model" but a different version of a certain model. Simply
a "odd" serial number and ALWAYS Rare!

Does the Alaskan series apply to your quest?

Not at this point, I am looking to have a set of Ruger revolvers that take scopes. I think I already have the really tough to find models but knowing what to look for is sometimes as hard as finding them.

There were two types of U marked guns. Normally rollmarked guns and error guns with "SUPER REDHAWK" rollmarked on both sides instead of having "RUGER" on one side. As far as I know, all these are 3 digit guns with the 9.5" barrel. And .44 Mag of course.

OK, I am seeing more differences as note the following Super Redhawk has Super Redhawk on the right (550-7303x):

http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128085534
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128003401
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128407405
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128456110
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128058012

While these later ones have RUGER on the right side frame (552-4????):

http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128278174
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128254436
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128163279
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128311978
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =128037945

So, it looks like there is a different roll mark but I need to study the serial numbers more to figure out when they changed. Obviously looking at these it impacted both 7.5 and 9.5-inch barrels.

The change was made sometime between 551-35429 and 551-49620, going from having "SUPER REDHAWK" on one side of the frame extension and "RUGER" on the other side, to having "RUGER" on both sides of the frame extension and "SUPER REDHAWK" on the barrel.

I note that the change seems to have happened about the time the first .454's came out, so I'm really curious if there might be a few .454's out there without "SUPER REDHAWK" marked on the barrel.

Thanks again for the advice and I'll let you know if I can tighten your numbers or if I find a mutant 454 SRH

EDIT:

http://www.gunsamerica.com/96250941...r/Redhawk-Type/RUGER_SUPER_REDHAWK_44_MAG.htm

This is a Duel Ruger marked pistol and I have verified with the seller that the serial number is 551-44427.

Point of interest, this is the lowest 454 Super Redhawk I have found since keeping an eye on this: 551-50233. It is Duel Redhawk marked:

OK, here's another one:
The July 1999 Guns & Ammo had a Ruger ad in there that showed a KSRH-7454 (7-1/2" .454 with standard Target Gray finish). It is serial number 551-39324 and it does have "RUGER" on the right side of the barrel extension and "SUPER REDHAWK" on the right side of the barrel. Also found a factory press kit photo of a prototype KSRH-7454 serial number 880-00547, and it is the same as 551-39324.
KSRH-7454 #880-00540 has a non production "satin" finish and is pictured on the cover of the March 1999 issue Shooting Times. It has "SUPER REDHAWK" on the right side of the frame extension and nothing on the right side of the barrel. As I look at this gun, it is apparent that there looks to be a tremendous amount of rollmarks on it, all over the right side of the cylinder frame, on the right side of the extension and of course around the cylinder. Perhaps for aesthetics of the .454 (and later the .480", Ruger decided to spread these rollmarks out a little by putting some on the barrel?
So, looks like the change happened before the first production .454's were out, and occurred between 880-00540 and 880-00547. Thing is, literally months could have elapsed between production of those two prototypes.
For regular production, the change is now within 4,000 guns, occuring between 551-35429 and 551-39324

Did anybody notice the following 454 Super Redhawk on Gunbroker:

http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.a ... =148202461
End price - $737.00 with 13 bids.

Is it just me of does this look like it has a satin finish? I assumed it is just something with the photo, but it is a very strange effect and I noticed it sold for a LOT more then typical 454s sell for.

I thought about it, but this one climbed out of my budget given I have already bought a pair of Redhawks this month. I wonder if there could be satin finish Super Redhawks comming out of the factory in 454 if what we see is real?

Let me try again, am I seeing things or does that look like more of a satin finish on that 454 Super Redhawk? Has anybody seen a SRH with this type of finish elsewhere?

Am I just crazy and I have been looking too close at too many guns and I am seeing things that do not exist?

I had sent the seller a message but I got no reply before the auction ended. I sent another this morning hoping to get some info but some sellers really don't reply very well.

The 2010 catalog lists the 454 super redhawk as having a standard stainless finish--no longer the target grey. All of them have the hogue monogrip standard as well. I would guess this is a new production Super Redhawk, and many more will follow----making the target grey ones more collectable!!

I do recall another variation of the super Redhawk--a target grey 44 magnum. If I remember correctly, this was a distributor exclusive either the first or second year of the 454 production. They are easy to spot as they had the fluted cylinder.

Good point! If anybody has picked up a late production .454 lately (or even "cleaup" target grey .480), be sure to let me know what the sn is so we can document in the reference. Then of course will also need early sn's of the standard satin finish .454 to document.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ruger ships out a few satin .480's also.

Thanks for the advise as I have been searching for another of these and I have not seen another yet but as the photos above show this gun was only test fired 10/31/2009 and listed on Gunbroker on 11/26/09 so it may well be from an early run of these. I copied the images to my server in case Ruger decides to revert back to target grey before many of these are made as we are talking about Ruger here!

Sounds like I need to get the 2010 catalog!

I just went through our serial number history since 1999, and found the following "D" prefix Super Redhawks:
D55117256 KSRH9
D55122382 KSRH9
D55187764 KSRH9
D55253553 KSRH7454
D55255248 KSRH7

We probably had some before the database was started in 1999, but I would doubt if it was more than 1 or 2 guns.

Thanks,
Kent

i'm new to this forum. i'm responding to super redhawk roll marks. i have a target grey finish, 7 1/2" barrel without "super redhawk" roll marks. nowhere on the gun does it say super redhawk. i bought this gun new and it has always puzzled me. i called ruger customer service and they just kinda blew me off. i'll include serial# to anyone researching this.
