With my DW out of the picture I dug out my Ruger SR 1911 Commander in 45 ACP. I will take it to the ranger tomorrow and shoot it again to get used to it and then qualify with it. It is a good standard Commander to practice with to save the lightweight frame from too much abuse.

The ramped barrel is the Wilson style. I had an issue with my fired 38 Super brass. The primers looked like they were way over pressure. I have reverted to the 9mm barrel for now.

With the help of a gunsmith friend we got the barrel installed and test fired on Friday. Minor problem with the last round a ball failing to fully chamber out of an Ed Brown magazine. Switched to Colt magazines and the problem went away. Also fired 5 rounds of Sig V Crown without any issues.

I have tried Ruger, Kimber, Wilson and McCormick magazines with the same results. And yes, I really like the 38 Super. 9mm plus ballistics with a cartridge the length the pistol was designed for.

I have a tang safety Ruger rifle rebarreled in 264 Win Mag. I rebuilt the trigger mechanism from scratch and have about an eight pound trigger pull. Can this be fixed or do I just need to install a Timney trigger?

Ruger replied they do not support any taller front sights for the GP 100.

I have a blue GP 100 with a six inch barrel. I swapped the barrel for a stainless four inch barrel. It has the pinned front sight. My first range trip resulted in the bullet impact about five inches high. Where can I find a taller front sight?
