    .38 Special case split

In my experience, cartridge cases are nearly always to blame for many of the problems I have experienced in more than fifty years of reloading. I have had brass that was too soft and flowed into the ejector, in the starting load. I have had primer pockets expand and become unserviceable after...

    A couple classic S&Ws: Updated w/Technical Question

The rebound spring does not affect the ignition, it will affect the trigger return. The mainspring does affect the ignition and many people have made adjustments to either the mainspring or the strain screw to lighten the action. I don't recommend any cutting of springs, backing off screws or...

A Question about Ruger Convertible Blackhawks

I suspect that the Smith and Wesson is the 60-4, it is a wonderful revolver and has a kinda cult following. I saw one at a lgs but wasn't very interested until I cycled the action, it was the smoothest j frame I ever felt. Good luck on all of the aforementioned treasures.

The link provided by 48flyer is correct, thank you to 48flyer.

Limited edition .32-20/.32 mag Vaquero convertibles

I consigned a consecutively serial numbered pair of original Vaqueros 5.5" barrel at Southern California Gun in San Diego. These are the .32-20/.32 H&R mag convertible models, they were a very limited production with less than three hundred produced in each barrel length. If anyone is...

Can a Ruger Security Six withstand

The Ruger Security Six and GP100 are the strongest revolvers of all that are currently available. Only the Redhawk series are more robust. The Smith and Wesson N-frame may appear more substantial but the position of the cylinder stop is a weak point, placed in the thinnest part of the cylinder...

Can a Ruger Security Six withstand

The Ruger Security Six is a robust revolver, I used one for many years, using a steady diet of the 110gr jacketed hollow points. The revolver showed erosion but seemed to taper off over time. Loading manuals publish data based on the weakest firearms that the loadings could be used in, for...

Ruger Bearcat Firing Pin Not Striking Center of Round

The only stupid/idiotic question is the one someone does not ask. As mentioned before if you only partially cock the revolver, it will bypass a chamber when you cock it again. Additionally, make sure the hand area is clean and provides enough spring tension to properly engage the ratchet.

    Unintended consequences

The won't ship to California has been a pet peeve of mine for some time, I wonder who those people think they are hurting. Those of us that are stuck in this state did not vote for any of the idiots that have been elected to represent California on a state or national level. The other problem...

Thank you for your responses and yes, they are the convertible model with the .32-20/.32h&r cylinders.

    Unintended consequences

I never intended to collect Rugers. I actually wanted the Ruger firearms to shoot them. However, several of the firearms I chose have become collectable. The dilemma is that I am not enjoying some because they have become too collectable. I am considering selling the most collectable and I...

    Rare vaquero?.

As the previous post indicated, the rarest Vaquero that I am aware of is the .32-20/.32 H&R mag. convertible. I was fortunate enough to find one several years ago, when I went to pick it up (10 day wait), they had another, serial number was consecutive to the one I was picking up, now I have...

    Non Ruger Rifle Question (UPDATED!)

I have a suggestion for you. On your next trip to the range, before you completely chamber your first round (push the round into the chamber without rotating the bolt, checking for resistance), withdraw the round and check for rifling marks on the bullet. Some rifles have a rather short leade...
