You may be able to fill the whole with JB weld and metal shavings then tap it to the screw size let it first cure for at least a day I would wait a week to let it cure What is this Mounted on 30-06 243 ?? 45-70?

Go to Ruger dot com find Tech info then Tech video watch disassemble and reassemble its a walk in the park, watch both and you'll be able to do it in a half hour. It makes you feel good Good luck Tommyt

I was under the understanding that if you shoot cast in a Ported Barrel It leads Correct ? now you got me back paddle-in I'll look it up Tommyt

with porting you will not be able to shoot Cast Tommyt

How bout using a scope ring as the jig make a whole in it an then use a piece of stock? to make it stay put you can then center the whole in the ring, when its where you want put the bit through it then you have no walking ,the picture is what made me think of the scope ring Tommyt

Was just about to say the same and for the roughness in it take your time and clean them up one stroke at a time I too have been told Plane old shooting will smooth thing's out Tommyt
