The handguard allows easy mounting of M-lok accessories like a bipod mount and a QD sling attachment point. It's more than just "Venting". The gun I'm sure as shipped will shoot perfectly fine with an off-centered handguard. but.... The handguard not being concentric to the barrel reduces...
