I like the SP101 .22. Again I'm a first time gun owner with no significant experience with handguns. The double action was tough at first. It's now getting easier. The 686 was much easier out of the box in D/A. I'm happy with it. I can hit a few bullseyes @ 50' in D/A. even though I can't...
It's been a while since I've posted. I wanted to thank everyone for their input. The family has been saving for a while to purchase the guns that we wanted. It helps that it takes so long to get your permit. This is what we've purchased. The first two guns were a S&W 686 with a 4" barrel...
I think we will be a multi-handgun very shortly. For hitting the target she loved the single action. Mother and Daughter are extremely competitive.
There is "The" need for an accurate single action that they can score well with all the time. That's in the fun category. The Mark III was fun...
The family did the NRA basic hand gun course this weekend that's required for handgun permiting in our state. The wife liked the S/A Rugers the best for shooting but doesn;t think it's a good choice for defense. Thought some of the D/A were a little hard trigger pulls. My daughter loved...
A friend has invited us to his gun club. He has 18 handguns. He's going to let the girls try them all if they want. He has several different 22 calibers to try. He feels the 22 d/a is the best choice for all the same reasons stated in the posts. We'll see.
We talked about the gun over dinner tonight. My wife and daughter are in agreement about a 22 revolver. They like the idea of putting thousands of rounds through a gun at a resonable no guilt price. S/A or D/A? We'll see. Everyones opinions about the action makes sense.
We'll see what the girls like but I'm leaning towards a 22. Are Taurus' reliable? Knowing the girls I think they'd like a d/a better. Taurus looks like they have more choices in my price range. Ruger seems to be more consistent in getting positive reviews.
It's off to the gun shop this weekend. It should be like shoe shopping but more fun. I know one thing from shoe shopping if it's not comfortable it will never get used no matter how pretty it is. I know they like automatics from handling them before. I want to have fun with the gun but it...
That's what we did with the shotgun. As far a 22's, I think that would be ton of fun. Are there any decent loads for a 22 that would buy her sometime until she could make it to her shotgun? Does Ruger offer a convertible 22? Saw a Charter Arms but the reviews are mixed. Is a double action...
Thanks for the suggestions. It seems everyone is in agreement that some sort of revolver is the was to go. My wife and daughter are both over 5'8" do you stll think the GP would be too big?
I'm looking at purchasing my first handgun. I would like somthing that was fun to shoot, reliable and offer some defensive qualiities. We have a 12 Ga shootgun so I'm not worried about a big gun. I have a wife and teenage daughter that enjoy shooting. Just want something that will shoot when...
