Most accurate 44 mag cast bullet load?

Yes it's incredible. He's put the basic work into his revolvers...lapping,cyl honing, etc. I have 2 Taurus revolvers in .44mag and .454casull, shooting 100yds bench rest, shots stay inside a 4"circle with factory Winchester ammunition but my Ruger SBH I can't hit 6" steel at 100 no matter what I do.

    IMR 4227

Ok... loaded up 23gr IMR 4227, 240gr Sierra JHC and a heavy crimp. Don't see any kernels laying on the bench however that's a lot stouter of a load than I care to shoot more than 14-15 times lol. Accuracy could be better at 50yds but it's not awful.

Lee 44 mag factory crimp die

Most accurate 44 mag cast bullet load?

I don't load or shoot lead bullets but my father-in-law does. He casts his own using Veral Smiths molds. With 17gr of 296 and a 280gr wfn bullet, he can consistently hit 2" clay targets at 100yds with either his Redhawk or his SuperRedhawk.

Lee 44 mag factory crimp die

Hi all...has anyone had any problems with the Lee fcd. If I go by the instructions and adjust to utilize a heavy crimp, it will crush the case in about the center. But if I turn it out 1 full turn and screw the adjuster in 3/4 turn it works ok but I'm skeptical of a medium crimp in a 44 mag...

    Smartreloader brand

I bought one a while ago to use just as a universal decapping station. JUNK!! The ram didn't even match the hole drilled for the die. The difference was about 3/16". I read some reviews on Smartreloader presses and one guy said he had to modify the ram linkage to make it work. I didn't bother.

    IMR 4227

Thanks for all the info. I'm not new to reloading but always been rifle cartridges. This is the first time I've ever seen anything like this. Crimp is probably the issue. In my rifle loads I use no crimp at all.

    IMR 4227

Is anyone using the Sierra book for their data? I went by the Lyman 49th and they're saying 19.1 start and 23.3 max(compressed).

    IMR 4227

Thanks for the input. I'm using Winchester primers for both standard and mag loads. I suppose the crimp may not be heavy enough .

    IMR 4227

Hi all....Loaded test rounds in my Ruger SBH .44mag 5.5". Using Sierra 240gr and charge weights from 19.5gr to 21.5gr. There was a lot of powder kernels left behind in the barrel and on the bench. What would be the reason? Powder too fast for a shorter barrel?

    Sierra 240gr in Ruger SBH

Hi all.... I've measured out my Ruger SBH and I have: Cylinder is .431" Bore is .4305" Muzzle is .430" Now, I'm loading Sierra 240gr JHC which measure .4295". My question is will the base of that bullet expand enough to fill in the grooves in the barrel or should I be searching...

    Ultramax brass

That's what I would think too especially since it's all Starline brass. Thought I'd ask anyway lol.

    Ultramax brass

Hey all... I was given a bunch of ultramax cases for 44 mag. I was told they were factory loaded for cowboy shooting. Just wondering if I reload them with higher pressure powder ( like IMR 4227) if they'd be ok. Thanks
