I carry a 2" SP101 in a Wright Leather Works Predator holster. Very high quality holster. Has the extra leather strip near the holster's mouth to facilitate reholstering.
Back when I was an LEO it was all wheel guns. I carried a Chiefs Special and my partner carried a Detective Special. Both were blued and had holster shine. DS held one more round but appeared to be the same size as my CS. I suspect the frames might have been but surely the cylinders were...
I was an Arizona Ranger for five years attached to the Bisbee Company until 2012 and never heard of an Arizona Ranger Vaquero until I read this thread. Which isn't saying much as we were required to carry Glocks.
I have one also. It's the most accurate revolver I've ever owned. But I've never gotten over the trigger on an old Model 10 duty weapon I owned when I was an LEO in CA.
But the blued ones have character as they age; holster shine. nicks, scratches , clearly visible cylinder rotation line, etc. Whereas the stainless models look like they just came out of the box 20 years later.
I ordered a set of rosewood grips for my SP101 and paid for them on December 8th; they arrived today, January 21st, approximately 51 days later give or take a day or two (no good at sums; I was an English major). That's not what I'm complaining about, although it would seem that they would have...
got2hav1, it probably was an LE gun. As an ex LEO I can attest to the fact that most of us (this was back when we mostly carried revolvers) never cleaned them. After all, it's a revolver, what could possibly go wrong?
Thanks, Hittman. Answers my question. Now, another question. Is the SP101 the same size as a j-frame (model 36, the Chiefs Special) or is it slightly larger? Or is the trigger guard shaped a bit differently, or is it larger than the model 36? The reason I ask is that many leather OWB...
I agree. I never had any trouble racking the slide on a full-sized 1911 or a Glock 17. When the holster arrives for the SP101 it will replace the Shield as my EDC.
