Bullet seating depth increases from chambering

From what I've been told, this applies to dropping a round into the chamber and then closing the slide - especially on 1911s. I'm easing the slide close to feed a round from the magazine. This is no different than racking the slide on a full magazine. To "barney bullet" it and top off the...

Bullet seating depth increases from chambering

+1. Rotate your SD ammo. Also, I ease the slide closed on my SD ammo and then do a press check when chambering/re-chambering my SD/HD ammo.

    SR9c - Quick Draw & Thumb Safety

Not at all. But if you trust that the manual safety is always off, Murphy's Law says there is a possibility it will be on when you least expect it to be. I can't carry in my home state but at the local matches, all safety devices, as designed by the manufacturer, must be utilized.

    SR9c - Quick Draw & Thumb Safety

+1. My only complaint is the thumb safety on the SR-series/LC9 is on the small side. Unlike the large thumb safety on late model 1911's, it is (more) possible to miss the SR9 thumb safety in situations of high stress. Heck, I've missed it and fumbled a presentation while on the clock in action...

    Dry Firing the SR9

"BTW, how are things going in the land of "FOID?" Are the laws being revised?" it's in the works but Illinois and particularly, Chicago are bastions of anti-gun sentiment. the wheels turn slowly for us, my friend.

    Dry Firing the SR9

Er... yes, but it's conditional. * IF you wish dry-fire WITHOUT magazine in place and the magazine disconnect has been REMOVED. * IF you wish to dry-fire with the magazine disconnect INSTALLED, then make sure you have a magazine INSERTED.

    SR9c - Quick Draw & Thumb Safety

Just needs a lot of (regular) practice. Ride that little chiclet of a thumb safety like a 1911 and sweep it off when it comes out of the holster. An alternative is to never use it. But since it's there, there is the off chance that it might somehow be engaged when you really, really don't want...

    Dry Firing the SR9

If you remove the magazine disconnect safety, you can dry fire the SR9 to your heart's content without the magazine in. I removed the magazine disconnect when I went to action pistol events and reinstalled them when I got home since it did double duty as a house and competition gun...

124 RN Precision Deltas in SR9 problem

Really? I thought it was not advised to use .38 Spl./357M (.357") bullets in the .355" 9mm barrel?

124 RN Precision Deltas in SR9 problem

Yikes. That is not very Precision. :( More experienced reloaders might be able to provide more detailed answer but I would guess shooting a larger than spec diameter bullet will likely cause increased pressure and not be beneficial to accuracy. The bullet must be getting swaged slightly as it...

124 RN Precision Deltas in SR9 problem

Shot in the dark but how are the groupings? All over or stringing vertically/horizontally? In addition to crimp amount and consistency, primer seating depth also seems to be important. I was getting some crazy vertical stringing at 15 yards and didn't know why until a more experienced reloader...

    Loading 327 fed mag

GP100 in .327 Federal Magnum here. Federal brass just recently became available in 100 QTY bags. MidwayUSA and Mid South has them but supply seems highly constrained - they go out of stock almost as soon as they get them in. Freedom Arms sells pre-primed brass also. I use Hornady .32 S&W...

What ever happened to the .45 GAP?

I suppose if you really want a high capacity .45-caliber semi-auto that can fit into a smaller frame for smaller handed individuals.... A small number of agencies adopted the .45 GAP. I think the number can be counted on one hand, if I recall, from the 2011 Glock Annual. I think Florida...

Blackhawk Serpa vs. Bianchi Carry Lok

I agree. I suggested the Safariland ALS as an alternative since it doesn't require fingering of a retention tab located directly over the trigger/triggerguard.
