Waiting for my Garmin Xero Chronograph to come in, but in the mean time I have been accuracy testing my 500gr SP cast projectiles with Lil Gun. So far I think 18gr has yeilded the best accuracy, but I am still unsure of the speeds
They were (.459) Even sized cast bullets you should always flare case mouths. Unlike jackets bullets, where you’re not worried about removing the lube/coating
If you’d like some more just let me know. I enjoy casting them just as much shooting haha. I have put a hog down with one of them and...
I too use a LabRadar. I like mine since I purchased an external trigger.
Have you seen the Garmin unit announced? Looks really simple to use too.
Did you get a chance to shoot those 600gr NOE cast I sent you?
Has anyone been working up loads for their build? Its been 105 and hotter here for the last 2 months it seems, so no shooting or casting recently for me. But the weather is finally starting to come back to reality
Why not just roll your own? Pick up a cheap single stage press, some powder and primers. It would be cheaper
How much is it per round from black butterfly currently?
@CharcoalMoon - Toyotas for life!
Man this thread died fast :(
Anyone have any updates? Mine is currently in the safe, because its just too hot to go to the range and spend some quality time with it. I hope to start working up some loads before hunting season starts here
This is the only reason I went ahead with the AR mag. All of my cast and loaded 458 rounds have room left in the AR mag and if I buy a handful of longer projectiles, I’ll just single load them.
Here is a great way to start casting for your 458 SOCOM. NOE has now created a nose pour bullet mold with multiple length pins for the base. This allows you to cast 4 different weights with the same nose profile. I already signed up for a 4 cavity for the group buy
This is 4 molds in one...
Yeah I could have sworn that I ordered an AICS Chassis for Ruger American because I wanted to test out 458 SOCOM feeding out of an AICS. But I guess I ordered 3 AR mag chassis' :(
Ill measure my old stock and see how long it is from the receiver to the end of the stock. I think an 11" would probably be as short as you could probably go, but Ill find out after work
My friend runs an AR with a 10.5", he likes it. Ive been procrastinating for the last couple of years and...
Technically you dont have to buy a chassis to put it in. You can actually use the factory stock that it comes in. Just order the AR mag well adaptor from Ruger. Or if you have a personal favorite, I would just use whatever that is. Otherwise, wait for MDTs black friday sale. Its the only sale...
