What is your favorite family of powders.

I voted for Bullseye (Alliant), best pistol powder made!

    My .44spec Varmint Load

Steve, I believe Speer makes shot capsules in .44 --- but I have not tried them. However, I have used their .38 shot capsules in revolvers and have been pleased with the results on snakes. The pattern spreads at the rate of about an inch for each foot traveled, therefore, you get most of the...

    Why not Bullseye?

If I ever found a powder that produced more uniform velocities (and accuracy) than Bullseye in .38 Special, .357 Mag, and .45 ACP target loads --- I'd use it. HP-38/231 is a very good powder too, but my chrono shows better uniformity with Bullseye at target velocities, and I find less...

    opnion on the SR1911

I'd like a 3 1/2" version for use as a BUG gun in IDPA matches.

Any word on a compact SR1911 yet?

Amen! I really want a commander-size SR1911 (with a bushing), and I am also working diligently at trying to wear out my 5" SR1911 and 3 1/2" Citadel. 8)

What's your opinion on starline brass?

Starline Brass has great products and reliable service. I've been buying from them for years and do so with complete confidence.

    Except Ruger ......

I voted for the RIA because it is made by the same folks that made my Citadel 3 1/2" .45. My SR1911 shoots fine, but the Citadel shoots better groups from sandbags at 25 yards. I'm shooting the SR1911 in our Bullseye matches simply because I get better offhand scores with it's longer...

The Next Ruger SR1911 Varient Will Be:

I'm wishing for a target model SR1911, with good-quality adjustable sights, hand-fitted barrel to bushing to slide, and guarantee of 3" C-T-C (or less) at 50-yards...... ....with an MSRP of less than $1000.00. 8)

    SP101 - splitting brass

I've been reloading since the 1960's. "Almost never" had a split case. I've had over 70 re loadings from a lot of Remington .41 Mag brass, over 60 reloading from a lot of Starline .357 Mag Brass, and almost all case failures have been from split necks --- not split cases. JMHO --- YRMV

Should I have my Redhawk ported?

In the 1980's I was fortunate enough to own two Redhawk revolvers in .44 Mag, a short one (5 1/2") and a long one (7 1/2 "). Mag-na-port was a "new" product at that time and I wanted to try it. Sent the 5 1/2' .44 Mag Redhawk in to be "Mag-Na-Ported," and when it came back, I discovered that...

    Review: Cheap 1911 Compact

I ordered a Ruger SR1911 when I first heard about them. While waiting for it to arrive, I purchased a 5" Citadel to play with and learn more about reloading for 1911's. That gun was so much fun, I also "adopted" a 3 1/2" Citadel. After shooting both guns a bit, I found the short one far more...

    44 special

If Ruger would chamber the GP100 for .44 Special, I'd be the first in line to get one (even if it is a 5-shooter like their wonderful SP101's). THAT would be about a perfect gun for nightstand, woods walking, truck gun, winter CCW, small game, Bullseye Matches, etc. etc. I'd like at least one...

    Who owns a 2 1/4 & 3 1/16 SP101 357

Davidsons has both barrel lengths in stock with Hogue grips. I have both barrel lengths and for me there is no comparison between them --- the 3" is by far better. The 2" is a truly fine, heavy-duty CCW gun, while the 3" is a "do everything," all-round great shooting revolver that does a...

    Dry Fire question SP101

Did you get a copy of the instruction manual that should have come with your SP101? The Ruger instruction manual that came with my SP101, says on page 13: "Dry-Firing" is practicing the trigger pull of the empty revolver for practice and familiarity. The SP101 can be dry-fired without damage...

    The Diminutive SP 101

My 3" SP101 with Hogue grips is my favorite "do everything" revolver. Over the years I've had everything from derringers to 8" N-Frame S&W's and long-barreled TC's, but that little SP101 does a fair job at everything I expect from a revolver. I have smaller revolvers, lighter revolvers...
