Volquartsen Mk II Bolt, is it worth the $$$?

I have a Volquartsen Scorpion and a Ruger Mk III 22/45. The thing about the bolt is that it's the piece that is MOST noticeably better than the equivalent Ruger piece. The surface of the bolt is so smooth you can hardly even hold onto it. I think it would easily run with no oil at all. My...

Security Six and Speed Six parts ?

Gunbroker has had some big parts kits for reasonable prices. Like ones with a barrel, cylinder, grips, and lots of small parts. Finding a specific part might take a while, but if you can buy a parts kit that's most of the gun, it might not be a bad idea.

Just unexpectedly bought a Security Six at auction HOME NOW!

That's a very fair price. It might have actually gone a bit higher if he hadn't put a reserve on it. I know when I look at GB I don't even look at the reserve auctions. Lately I've been using "browse" to bring up all the revolvers in the early evening and going through all the pages past...

Caved on the GP100 4" .22/Now Received and Fired

I have the 4" blued, and the fit and finish is beautiful on mine. The only minor issue was some sharp burrs on the sides of the hammer checkering, but a few strokes with a fine file took care of that. I have a little over 2,000 rounds through it, and everything's been great.

    Security Six 357 Impulse Buy

I've seen a lot of people say that the Security Six is a better gun than the GP100, but not sure how much of that is due to the phenomenon of "the older one was better." I haven't shot mine yet so I don't know. I love my GP100 and don't expect to ever part with it. I don't think the Security...

How many is too many pistols ?

Don't ever sell a gun you like in order to buy another gun. Save up until you can get the new one, and keep the old one. Never sell a gun you like unless it's a real necessity, as in you need the money to buy food. I don't think there's anything wrong with owning a wide variety of...

    Security Six 357 Impulse Buy

I've been saying my next gun would be a 44 Mag or 45 Colt. I've also been saying "no more guns this year." Well my range had this stainless Ruger Security Six .357 at a reasonable price. ($ 399) It's pretty similar to the only other centerfire revolver I own, the GP100, so maybe not the most...

    Considering a GP100 (KGP-141)

Love my 4" blued GP100. I don't know how you can complain about the weight. Just right for a .357 in my opinion. I have 22 pistols that are heavier. I bought the Hi Viz front sight and gave up on it after about 300 rds. I find that it's hard to pick a consistent elevation picture against the...

Anyone running a Compensator on thier 22/45 pistols?

You may scoff at using a compensator on a 22LR, but they really do make a difference. I have a Volquartsen Scorpion with their comp, and with standard velocity or subsonic ammo, that muzzle barely budges. It makes a big difference when you're shooting steel challenge or rapid fire bullseye.

    22/45 MkII Bolt Stop

If you're talking about 22/45 Mk II vs 22/45 MkIII, then I'm not sure. If you mean 22/45 MkII vs the "regular" MkIII, then it's completely different. In any case, you can usually fix that issue by squaring up the corner of the bolt stop on the inside, where it contacts the bolt. File off enough...

    Subsonic in Mark I

CCI Standard has been my "go-to" ammo for my .22 league shoots and all my serious shooting for quite a while. That's in a Mk III 22/45 and now my Volquartsen Scorpion. I don't hunt, so I really haven't been buying much high velocity ammo in a while. I've also done well lately with Norma Tac-22...

    22/45 red dot

Another vote for the Bushnell TRS-25. I have one on my 22/45 and the zero never wavers and the battery seems to last forever. I put a Primary Arms Micro Dot on my new Volquartsen Scorpion, only because I wanted to try a smaller 2 MOA dot for bullseye shooting. It's very similar in appearance...

New GP 100 Match Champion with adjustable sights

I just bought the standard blued GP100, and I rejected the Match Champion primarily because of the fixed rear sight. Now here it is with the adjustable sight. Already ordered up a fiber optic front sight from Ruger.

    Rusty/Pitted Mark III

He was referring to going to a machine shop to make the barrel into a slabside, not just remove the surface rust. That's gonna take a lot of work with emery paper.
